Even producer David O Selznick put the boot into this lazy take on Hemingway's WWI romance... and his wife was in it! Rock Hudson hardly breaks stride as the injured GI; Jennifer Jones - Selznick's missus - is stuffy and sexless as Rock's favourite nurse. In another era, it would have been straight to DVD closely followed by the afternoon slot on Channel Five.
