The force wasn’t always with Alec Guinness. Culled from ’49 to ’57, this five-disc set includes stain-free classics and flyweight fluff. The former? Two still-sharp Ealing satires, Robert Hamer’s Kind Hearts And Coronets, a brilliantly black murder-com, and The Man In The White Suit, in which Guinness’ scientist invents a stain-resistant suit resisted by industry. He delivers like a gent in the others, too, but the material isn’t cut to fit. No extras.
