Director Joe Wright and screenwriter Tom Stoppard bring Leo Tolstoy's classic to the big screen.
Anna Karenina sees Keira Knightley star as the titular Anna, an upper class socialite married to Count Karenin (Jude Law), a senior statesman some 20 years her senior. Their marriage is steady if unremarkable, until Anna’s head is turned by the affluent Count Vronsky (Aaron Johnson).
As the pair begin a torrid affair, Anna’s world begins to unravel, adultery being somewhat frowned upon in conservative 19th century society. But is this a price worth paying for what appears to be true love?
The latest in a long line of adaptations of Tolstoy's classic looks absolutely sumptuous in its first trailer, with both director Joe Wright and Keira Knightley in their element after working together previously on Pride & Predjudice and Atonement.
Are you excited by Anna Karenina? Or does the prospect of a third Wright-Knightley team up bore you to tears? Make sure to leave a comment ahead of the film's 7 September 2012 UK release.
