Pop quiz: who was the fifth Beatle? Pete Best is the usual answer, but in fact Stuart Sutcliffe is the right response. A founding and, according to Wings Of The Dove director Iain Softley's biopic, hugely influential member of the band that would later proclaim themselves bigger than Jesus. Stephen Dorff is surprisingly effective, but the film never quite achieves the tragic resonance it's straining for.
