
Guy Hamilton's star-sodden 1969 tribute to "the few" who stood up to Jerry in the summer of 1940 is, sadly, ever so worthy. Michael Caine, Robert Shaw and Kenneth More are all as stiff as boards and so is the film's plotting, this would-be stirring epic proving more a series of admittedly striking aerial scenes than a cohesive film. Strictly for fans of Pearl Harbor (anyone?) and, erm, old plane-lovers.
