It’s very big, Monument Valley. The Pyramids and The Acropolis are pretty impressive, too. When filmed in time-lapse, as they are here by Koyaanisqatsi cinematographer Ron Fricke in his debut directorial demi-feature (42 minutes), they demand the scale of IMAX. Unfortunately, their impact is reduced on DVD, where the film’s lack of purpose makes it feel more enigmatic than The Sphinx.
