Pretty Woman (15th Anniversary Special Edition) - DVD Review

Pretty Woman (15th Anniversary Special Edition)

Hollywood loves a good rags-to-riches story and Pretty Woman delivers the American dream by the truckload. Rookie hooker Vivian (Julia Roberts) is hired for a week by rich, lonely workaholic Edward (Richard Gere). At the end of seven days they’ve fallen in love, but part ways until Edward comes to his senses and returns to rescue Vivian from the street. Glossed-over prostitution aside, Pretty Woman is a formulaic, feelgood movie where class is divisive and love – and the odd million-dollar fortune – ultimately conquers all.

Fifteen years on from its release, the extras even fall short of the slight 10th anniversary edition. The usual yak-track, featurette and outtakes come with footage of Roberts and Gere’s woeful singing at the wrap party. Prepare yourselves for yet more blatant profiteering in five years time.
