El Mariachi finds its guitar-toting hero mistaken for someone all together much deadlier, resulting in some low-budget but highly inventive spaghetti Western-style gunplay. Meanwhile, Desperado is essentially the same story with a bigger budget plus Antonio Banderas, Salma Hayek and Hong Kong-esque action.
