Elysium marks the return of the District 9 actor-director duo of Neill Blomkamp and Sharlto Copley (last seen in The A-Team).

Set in the year 2159, Elysium stars Matt Damon as unlucky ex-con Max on a mission to bring equality to two polarised worlds of the future.

On the one side lies the very wealthy “Coordinators” living on the pristine man-made station of Elysium run by by Jodie Foster as the hard government official Secretary Rhodes. On the other live the other 99% living on an overpopulated, ruined Earth.

Blomkamp is promising that Elysium is, like District 9 “filled with many sociopoltical ideas wrapped up inside a Hollywood action film.”

As well as an official synopsis, we've also seen an official image of Matt Damon, sporting the tough-guy staples of a bald head and a mahoosive gun.

More details on the film, and the first lot of footage, is expected to be revealed at Comic-Con 2012.
