Breakout: Ms Heard has had a fair crack at the movie-verse before. She was the unattainable beauty in horror flick All the Boys Love Mandy Lane, appeared in Pineapple Express and Alpha Dog, and had a memorably gruesome cameo in last year’s goreific Zombieland.
But it’s in 2010 that she’s going to break some ground proper.
With four films all set for release this year, The Rum Diary looks like her most promising. Starring opposite Johnny Depp and Aaron Eckhart, it’s adapted from Hunter S Thompson’s novel of the same name. Heard plays Chenault, who will be tempting Depp’s journalist in 1950s Puerto Rico.
There’s also John Carpenter’s The Ward, about a mental patient who is haunted by a ghost, and The River Why, a ponderous little drama about a city high-flyer who enters the wild.
Damaged Goods? She looked pretty damaged after Zombieland.
