1. Winona Ryder

Where Did It All Go Wrong? Well, when she went shoplifting in Beverly Hills in 2001. No big movies since.
Ideal Career-Resurrection Project The Heathers (1988) sequel. Michael Lehmann's back, it's 20 years later and desperate housewife Veronica has let a Desperate Housewives-style, yummy-mummy clique grind her down.
Then she starts seeing the ghost of Christian Slater's JD...
2. Matthew McConaughey

Where Did It All Go Wrong? The old new Robert Redford of the '90s, now paddling about morosely in bad rom-coms and shoddy action movies.
Ideal Career-Resurrection Project: David Fincher helms, MM plays a plausible, dashing, fashion victim-slaying serial killer. Sarah Jessica Parker sliced and diced in the first reel...
3. Brendan Fraser

Where Did It All Go Wrong? It's been downhill since The Mummy Returns (2001) basically.
Ideal Career-Resurrection Project He's an okayish action star but a pretty good comic actor. Time for a Pineapple Express (2008) sequel with Fraser's stature propping up Rogen and Franco.

Aaron Eckhart? You said after The Dark Knight; The Core sunk him.... erm, The Core was five years before TDK, you're really nitpicking, as for Bettany, he's doing ok for himself at the moment; whilst Jamie Foxx is about to nab another Oscar for The Soloist... come on!

I really can't agree with Ryan Gosling being on that list. What about his superb performance in Lars and the Real Girl? He's one of the best of his generation.

Yes, damn that Aaron Eckhart & his pesky time machine. Oh, & it's Joe Johnston who's directing Captain America, not Joe Carnahan.

Hmmm i totally disagree with Ryan Gosling being on here. Fantastic actor - Lars and The Real Girl, Half Nelson and even the not as bad as you make it out Fracture.

What a nonsense article: Winona Ryder, you dont think Star Trek or the informers will put her back in the spotlight??? McConahghey, his career has been made by pouting and taking his shirt off, does he really deserve a career resurrection? Fraser seems to be making mint at c**p big budget movies with the occasional Crash and The Air I Breathe to remind us he can act. I could go on and nitpick your other choices, which either have solid acting chops and projects on the way already, or simply deserve to go straight to DVD. That would just be a waste of everyone's time, same as this article.

I was just discussing with my husband that I though Jaime Foxx's career was suffering from the 'After-Oscar-Win' curse. He has not done anything even half as compelling as Ray or Collateral. He won't be the first actor or actress to struggle after a major win like that, but it is no less sad. Hopefully he will find material soon that he can really sink his teeth into and remind us of why he got that Oscar in the first place.

I think it's a little bit harsh to include Jamie Foxx in this list. This is a man who is not only an accomplished musician but one of the top stand-up comedians of the past decade. It can be argued that he acts in his spare time and if I did my 1st job half as well as he did his 3rd then I would be a very successful man. The actor who I think has fallen the furthest downhill is Brad Pitt. His last semi-decent performance was 'Ocean's 11' and whilst I found 'Troy' enjoyable in parts, the film became unbearable any time Pitt opened his mouth. Since then it has been a steady drip drip of mediocrity. I hope for his sake 'Inglorious Basterds' is a return to the type of form I witnessed during his 'Kalifornia', 'Twelve Monkeys' and 's****h' days.
