It was relevant earlier on page 3. They put there will be blood winning the best picture oscar in 2007 as an example of the academy liking big broad sweeping stories

"feel for these aliens. what is happening is wrong. stand up and fight the machine." how many times have we watched and understood these messages? they're so over-saturated that everybody feels that everybody else will actually perform these actions - without doing so themselves. they're numbing and uninspiring. spending 300 mil ain't gonna pull troops out of the middle east and halt colonialism. it leaves you with a "damn straight". done.

You don't need ten reasons for this film to win at the Oscars as the Oscars have clearly become a popularity contest. I would love to see District 9 or Hurt Locker win as both films have more originality than Avatar but missing in action and more deserved of at least a nomination is Moon. Well done for not nominating one of the best Sci-fi stories in years and one hard performance by Sam Rockwell. Idiots. I see Avatar going down like Titanic, we love it now but give it time and we'll realise our mistake.

I still think Titanic is worthy, I also think Avatar is worthy. But I would love to see District 9 win. It is correct to say that the Oscars have become a popularity contest.

District 9 and Moon >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Avatar-FACT! If Avatar or GOD FORBID The Blind Side win Best Picture it will be cinema's biggest travesty since a certain "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire: The Film" won over a masterpiece called The Dark Knight. INGLORIOUS BASTERDS= The ONLY sensible choice for Best Picture winner. ORIGINAL (and not Ferngully in space) expertly crafted, well scripted, funny, spot on pacing and the finest performances of ANY film you can name from last year. I hope Avatar's nominations fall like the Na'avi's stupid massive tree thing that took about 15 mins get on with!

I liked Avatar very very much but I must say it is not a sure thing that it will win the Best Picture award.I mean, last year Slumdog won the Oscar because they owed one to Danny Boyle, in 2007 No Country for Old Men won because th Academy owed it to the Coens. If you see, both aren´t the directors' best movies (at least for me)but the Academy had the perfect oportunity to award their whole career.Maybe this year, it will be Quentin Tarntino's turn.... It wouldn't be undeserved. Inglorious Bastrds is a magnificent film and Tarantino a wonderful director. The Hurt Locker will impose a virtual competition. By the way, I'm quite mad that Moon didn´t receive any nom.
