I'm sure you have reviewed all these films in your time so I am a bit surprised to see no Schindler's List, Close Encounters, Saving Private Ryan, Taxi Driver, Shawshank Redemption or Police Academy 3

Actually I'll go on, no Terminator 1 or 2 or Godfather Part 2 dare I say it Aliens. I know why you haven't put Forrest Gump as everyone in the world apart from me apparently hates it and I don't think you gave it five stars but the rest I'm sure you did

Any attempt at such a list is really ridiculous. Maybe if you spent 2-3 years compiling it and actually devoted to it, maybe you'd get something but even then, it's still just a personal oppinion. One short example is that Sideways (a good film) is on that list yet Eisenstein isn't. I think you should've just named this list 100 Great Movies of All Time, but surely you can't expect to have compiled a list of "GREATEST 100 movies of all time". Because this really isn't it.

Good list. Nice Range of films. But is Finding Nemo really the greatest Pixar movie? Surely not. I agree with zbenny, it should be 100 GREAT movies, not GREATEST. Nice try TF!

I think the Wicked Witch of the East put a hex on your list; where's The Wizard of Oz and The Graduate and What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? and Cries and Whispers and The Manchurian Candidate and The Women and Airplane! and The Hangover and Mulholland Drive?

Where the hell is Wizard of Oz? It's a groundbreaking classic, and you gave it five stars after all. If you put in the LOTR as a trilogy why not the Godfather, and Scream while we're at it even though you only gave it four. Horror is unrepresented here.

One more thing. The list is impossible to draw up but thanks for trying. I have to watch all the ones I haven't watched yet now, especially Persona because a mate of mine keeps banging on about how great it is. One day you should draw lists on different genres. That would be fairer.

If we agree to include Police Academy 3 can we bump Avatar? Afterall, of the 2 films PA3 has the more original storyline and has more rounded characters. Also, the dialogue in Avatar was more wince-inducing than a vindaloo enema.

This Is England?! Are you kidding me!!! One of the most overrated films I have ever seen! If you was just looking to include Shane Meadows, the correct answer was Dead Man's Shoes - Paddy has never been better. I could go on with what should/shouldn't be included, but that would turn into an essay. Oh, and Police Academy 3 is clearly the best one - all hail Zed!

The wild bunch, a clockwork orange, Platoon, wizard of oz, Seven, Schindlers list, The Matrix, Taxi driver and twelve monkeys could and should be in your list, at least 3 of them. Avatar visually stunning but dialogue very weak, it could easily be swapped with any of the movies above I have mentioned. Godfather should be changed to Godfather 1&2, seeing that LOTR is counted as trilogy. Finding Nemo can be questioned here, especially when I feel Toy Story seems to be overlooked. This is England shouldn't be in the list but it is a decent film. It is a good list, I generally agree with most of it, most gutted that the wild bunch wasn't there.

Two huge faults I: No The Good the Bad and the Ugly and no Trainspotting!? And I just have to assume that the lack of Kubrick films must be because they are just to insanely good for any list.

This list has a lot of the obvious. Casablanca, Bicycle thieves, M, etc etc etc. But the amount of movies missing is absolutely shocking at the expense of mediocre This is england, Finding nemo and so on. The fact there are approx 11 or 12 inclusions NOT in the english language is the most farcical part of all when you consider that there is no Kurosawa, Ozu, Fellini, Almodavar, Vischonti, and i could go on and on. I would suggest there are 40 films missing from this list.
