Rambo and the Forces of Freedom

The Source Material:  Sly Stallone's franchise about ex-Vietnam vet / one-man army John Rambo, specifically Rambo: First Blood Part 2

Why It’s Inappropriate For Kids: Rambo's second outing was powder keg of controversy, both for its on-screen body count and a gung-ho political subtext so blatant even Ronald Reagan got it.

But that's what kids like, right? Simple, direct bad-guy beating.  So Rambo joined like-minded world policiers The Forces of Freedom, and kicked some family-friendly ass. 

Modern Equivalent: The Expendables although since Rambo's muscles alone filled the screen, how do they expect to make room for Jet, Stath and the rest?

      ....Is it wrong that apart from the slightly wierd shots of Rambo getting dressed I would watch the Rambo cartoon?

      There was a shot in the Rambo intro (where he hangs from a helicopter and then crashes through a window) that looked exactly like the Matrix. Tenuous? Probably.

      It's no wonder parents eventually got p****d come the 90s(in the States at least) as studios in the 80s pretty much knew that ANYTHING action or broad comedy oriented, especially when Rated R, was going to be really popular with the audience who weren't old enough to be watching some of the movies hence the animated spin off shows. Regarding James Bond Jr was anyone ever really surprised that, despite their obvious elements, the Bond films would spin off a cartoon for kids considering the movies had become a family watching, Xmas, Bank Holiday etc tradition? At least the makers did what others didn't and created an appropriate new character.
