Why make movies out of evil people? I don't get this feature. I always said that characters like Dr Lector and Jigsaw, though interesting, are still bad people and shouldn't be pop culturised. Why make more of these films? So you can inspire more mental people?

@kaysad We're coming at it more from the reverse angle I think - trying to think about why *these* specific monsters might perhaps be more film-worthy than the standard serial killer tripe that gets churned out. I do know what you mean though, fair point. It was hard while writing this one to try to strike a balance between faintly amusing and suitably sensitive - in fact I felt quite sick and sad after doing all the research for it, but I reckon it's a subject worth batting around in a purely cinematic sense, without getting too deeply into the ethics of it all. (Also, my IP address probably now has more red flags on it than the beach at Amity Island - sure some shady web watchdog has got me logged as a potential lunatic after all that grim link-chasing..!)

@endaoconnor Haha, you're totally right - knew she reminded me of someone else, but couldn't put my finger on it. Good spot! Who else does 'Iceman' remind you of? Despite the fact that Kuklinski's obviously white, I couldn't shake the image of James Avery from Fresh Prince for long enough to come up with anyone better than Galifianakis to play him... ;)

@moneebear Funny you should mention Pearce...Joe Pantoliano would also be a pretty decent match for Hansen, no?

      14. Truman. It had to be said.

What about Dr Harold Shipman? A heavily-bearded Jeremy Irons could probably pull the mass-murdering GP.

Gandolfini to play the ice cold, emotionless, monotone, lisping Kuklinski. I saw an interview about kuklinski and he is as mad as a brush!!! Mafia bosses wouldn't even meet him as he was that much of a coconut. Used to eat pizza while cutting up his victims, killed a car full of students for cutting him up in traffic and is rumoured to have killed Jimmy Hoffa... but apart fae that generally lovely.
