14 Creepy Movie Clowns

Its Comic Relief tonight. Someone save us from this lot...

6. Patch Adams (Patch Adams 1998)

The Clown: A doctor. With a big red nose and clown shoes when he’s looking for laughs.

Why He’s Funny: Compared to the symptoms of cancer, we suppose he’s pretty funny. Patch applies some typically Robin Williams-style vamping and raises some giggles.

Why He’s Terrifying: Laughter is the best medicine? Not when the last thing you might see on Earth is Williams gurning at you and trying to get you to chuckle. He won’t scare you to death – but he might irritate you off your mortal coil.

Great performance - shame we will never see it again from him

I thought this was a great performance by Williams and when you look at the subject matter it was so well thought and delivered by him

You forgot the scariest looking clown of all time (well maybe after Tim Curry's Pennywise) : the living dead clown from George A. Romero's Day of the Dead. He's only on screen for a coupla frames but he scared the bejesus out of me when I was a kid.
