150 Greatest Movie Performances Of All Time

Part one (150-121)

BY Total Film Dec 8th 2008 // 17:17PM FILED UNDER: Features

12140. James Spader - James Ballard, Crash (1996) Crash

According to David Cronenberg, Spader was desperate to know who had been cast before he started filming. “After all,” he said, “I do fuck everybody in the movie.”

But there’s much more to his car-crazed character than fucking– he’s a tightly-wound adventurer who seeks thrills from spills. Spader’s face is magnificently unreadable, allowing his actions to speak so much louder than words.

Greatest Moment: Trying to keep his eyes on the road while fetishist Vaughan has sex on the back seat.

Also See: Graham Dalton (sex, lies and videotape), Mr Grey (Secretary).
