He’ll play Howard Stark's butler in TV show
Set to line up alongside Morgan Freeman
Hoyte van Hoytema to look after cinematography
Why: If he could convey half the menace of Calvin Candie, then combine it with his sleazeball businessman persona in Wolf Of Wall Street, we'll be onto a winner.
Why Not: DiCaps seems to only pick roles that'll allow him to win that ever-elusive Oscar these days. We expect him to save the blockbusters until after he's got a golden baldie in his bathroom.

Fassbender for Batman.

Karl Urban as Batman +Bryan Cranston - Lex Luthor = Win
Jul 25th 2013, 8:19
Richard Madden is Scottish......which probably means he's half decent at accents.
Jul 25th 2013, 9:06
Is it too late for Wentworth Miller to be Batman? I would kill to have Matt Damon as Lex Luthor.
Jul 25th 2013, 10:14
Michael Rosenbaum for Lex Luthor ... He was great in Smallville
Jul 25th 2013, 10:26
None of the above, including Fassbender (who I love but isn't right for batman). Mads would be a good choice for Lex.
Jul 25th 2013, 12:03
Title should read: 15 Directors for Batman Vs Superman as Snyder is an awful director and these actors could do a much better job.
Jul 25th 2013, 12:21
If they want to go for an almost complete unknown and not on the list above, id say antony starr. Watched a tv series called banshee and thought hed be a good batman from that. Knows his way round a choreographed fist fight!
Jul 25th 2013, 12:34
Billy Zane for Lex Luthor! How was he not mentioned?!
Jul 25th 2013, 12:36
Karl Urban or Joel Edgerton for Batman.
Jul 25th 2013, 12:59
This is not really a 'who is more suitable to play Batman' article, but more of a 'who has a higher potential to be recruited to play Batman' article. Nevertheless, TotalFilm makes a few valid points that I'm supporting.
Josh Brolin - An older Batman makes sense, since the Batman in the Man of Steel universe is based off (kind of, sort of) "The Dark Knight Returns" Batman. Bale's Wayne was 37, so it'd actually be appropriate for audiences to see Bruce grow after the three years gap between Rises and MoS2. 45 is a good age for me. Also, his rough voice means that we might get a throwback to the TAS Batman. It's just rough enough to be badass, but let's not amp that up into the throat-cancer Bale voice.
Karl Urban - Put a contract in front of this man right now. TotalFilm is right about this one. I loved him as Dredd. If anything, he'd give Batman a more suitable tone (more so than Bale) as Keaton did when he played Batman back then. In other words, it's a 'style over substance' deal here with Karl, but we won't necessary need to disregard substance if the script is good...
Jeffrey Dean Morgan - He nailed the Comedian. But could he play Batman and give him the cynical tone that's much more different than the satirical Comedian? It's a tough choice between Jeffrey and Josh. I prefer Josh's voice, but I love Jeffrey's acting.
Armie Hammer - Really, Hammer? You are comparing The Dark Knight with Marvel's string of mediocre movies (before Avengers)? Wow. Yeah, I'll drop you just as easily just for your poor choice. And this is coming from a Marvel fan.
Christian Bale - Impossible. Not even in the most imaginable universe could you get him to come out of retirement... Oh wait, Bruce did come out of retirement, huh...? Hm, this could be a good marketing. Both the actor and the character come out of retirement... Bale might consider this just for the artistic values this move might bring.
Benedict Cumberbatch - That's the most suitable guy I feel appropriate to play Luthor, a charming yet menacing villain. This is really a gut feeling, though, and nothing much else to go on with it, seeing as how I didn't watch Into Darkness or Sherlock...
Leonardo DiCaprio - Didn't watch Django Unchained (yes, I know, I suck), but I trust DiCaprio to really take his characters seriously. I could actually see a charming Leo strutting out all that fierce corporate temper. Like I said, Leo is one of those actors like Russell Crowe who actually puts his own input into what the character should be like in the movie.
That's actually it for Luthor for me... I'm not really that familiar with Luthor (or Superman) in the comics, to be honest. Like I said, a Marvel fan I am.
Jul 25th 2013, 13:00
Ah c**p... this comment section doesn't use paragraphing.
Jul 25th 2013, 13:09
Jeffrey Dean Morgan - Lose the double chin and lots of body fat. But, if you are doing the older Batman and Superman when Clark went rogue, he could do it.
Jul 25th 2013, 13:11
After The Dark Knight Rises I assumed Joseph Gordon-Levitt was going to be the next Batman. Was I missing something?
Jul 25th 2013, 13:29
Steven Seagal as Batman. Shia Labeauf as Lex. Done. Make cheques payable to QL please Mr Nolan.
Jul 25th 2013, 14:24
John Hamm as Batman, I don't think so but i've always said he should have had Aaron Eckhart's role as ''Two Face'' In TDK. Maybe he could portray Harvey Dent one day, i live in hope. If Josh Brolin was alittle younger he would have been a great Batman, not sure of many of the other choices though. Also suprised JGL has not been mentioned, but i suppose he could be holding of for the next independent Batman movie. I'm absolutely gutted about Batman being in Man of Steel 2, as Batman lives in reality now and all i can see is Batman's reputation being shafted and being made to look weak and a liability. Batman since the Nolan series has been shot to the top of the pile of Heroes and all i can see is all of that hard work being destroyed and were back to the Joel Schumacher days.
Jul 25th 2013, 14:48
what about Bruce Wayne as Batman? He's rich.
Jul 25th 2013, 15:18
I don't mind Cumberbatch, but please not a Batman!
He doesn't have the chin or imposing physicality, I know the bulk can be gained, but I just don't think it would suit him. He's more the cold calculated Alan Rickman villain.
But I also don't think he could pull off the endearing d*******g or playboy character well.
I think he could make an amazing Lex though.
Madden is an interesting proposal, I think that physicality is a big part of the Batman role and I just wonder wether many of the actors above would achieve a physique that would make you believe he is capable of toppling Superman....Fassbender Batman though!
Jul 25th 2013, 15:56
There was no Robin in any Batman movie starring bale...so WTF you talking about? And Brolin is the only actor on your list (besides bale of course), who should put on the cowel. Like you said....he is kind of perfect for it.
Jul 25th 2013, 16:52
Fassbender for new Batman...no doubt!
He´d be brilliant! The only one I see doing justice to the character and replace Christian Bale with perfection.
So what he´s already Magneto?
Ryan Reynolds was Deadpool and Green Lantern.
James Marsden was Cyclope and Richard White in Supermas Returns.
The only problem is Assassins Creed, but if AC started shooting in the middle or after the middle of the year, I think he would be free, because the filming of MOS 2 will likely start in January.
Genius(he is a supporting character),Macbeth and Prometheus 2 don´t have release dates or forecast to start filming.
It´s a remote possibility but no impossible.
Fassbender is the best option so far.
Jul 25th 2013, 17:03
I remember hearing that Christian Bale was not always the easiest to work with. Karl Urban is an excellent choice for Batman, but someone that wasn't mentioned that I think would be interesting is Michael Cerveris. Also, if you remember, Lex Luthor is a redhead. I'm surprised that they didn't consider Tony Curran.
Jul 25th 2013, 17:10
Michael Cerveris is one of my suggestions for Lex, not Batman. Should have proofed my post before posting. :)
Jul 25th 2013, 17:19
They should consider Gerard Butler for Batman and Eric Bana for Lex Luthor..
Jul 25th 2013, 17:42
Oh he!! no to Hamm, Hammer, and Gosling(especially this one b/c he has the same personality with every character he plays), or a majority of these guys as Batman....taking on The Mantle of the Bat takes a certain persona that none of these guys can pull off with their type of acting personalities and would be disastrous.....Butler and DiCaprio should also not be considered for Luthor either.......it will take a good bit of searching, but honestly, to fill the shoes of both Batman/Bruce Wayne and Lex Luthor, they will need guys who have a certain dynamic to their acting ability......you could see what I am trying to get at with Bale's ability when he played in American Psycho (how during the day he was a banker/stock trader and at night he was maniacal serial killer)...................................and if they go after Channing Tatum, I will burn all my Batman Comics and Toys
Jul 25th 2013, 17:43
Gosling shouldn't be Batman he should be Flash
Jul 25th 2013, 17:48
Anson Mount. Look him up.
Jul 25th 2013, 18:32
What a weird list for the Batman with many TOO : Gyllenhaal too flabby , Gosling too BLOND (are you crazy !!?!!!) Brolin and the big impostor Bale too tasteless , Urban too trashy ,Morgan /Armitage and Hamm too OLD . The only one I don't know is Madden but I prefer the Hoechlin idea .
As for the rest of the cast I'm tired of seeing Cumberbatch and other Di Caprio monopolize all roles , boring actors .... But Bryan Cranston as Lex Luthor , why not ??!
Jul 25th 2013, 18:41
Scott Adkins - Batman / Bruce Wayne
Billy Zane - Lex Luthor
Crispin Glover - The Joker
Bryan Cranston - Commisioner Gordon
Jul 25th 2013, 18:49
Most of the guys mentioned for the Batman role just don't cut it for me. Fassbender definitely doesn't look the part for this or AC(really why did they pick him?). Out of all I would probably go for Jon Hamm but the guy is too old so the search should keep going.
Jul 25th 2013, 18:53
Russ Russo for Batman - great actor from the indie world, played Batman in a YouTube video that got 1.5 million hits, will be in Ryan Phillippe's directorial debut "Shreveport"
Jul 25th 2013, 20:21
Fassbender and Karl Urban are out. They are not going to do two high profile roles no matter how much we fans might want them to. That said - I nominate Keanu Reeves.
Jul 25th 2013, 20:41
Orlando Bloom.. oh wait, thats Bananaman :D
Jul 25th 2013, 20:42
Karl Urban/Christian Bale - Batman
Benedict Cumberbatch - Lex Luthor
So much Win!!
Jul 25th 2013, 21:33
Bryan Cranston as Lex Luthor is the only way. I'll be disappointed if anybody else gets it now you've said this.
Jul 25th 2013, 21:45
Billy Zane as Lex Luthor!!!!
Jul 25th 2013, 21:52
Melothy Gibsonian for Luther AND Wayne/Batman
Jul 25th 2013, 21:56
Wes Bentley is my shout for Batman. He's just been cast in Nolan's Interstellar and has been linked with the role before. It seems like this could be an audition for MOS2. He's the right the age, he's a decent actor and he's got the right look. I will be gutted if Bryan Cranston isn't cast as Lex though. It's too perfect!
Jul 25th 2013, 22:37
Jake Gyllenhaal, Jon Hamm and Jim Caviezel would be my choices for the new Batman.
Jul 25th 2013, 22:49
Samuel L. Jackson as Batman and Dakota Fanning as Lex Luthor.
Jul 25th 2013, 23:03
A more beefed up Matthew Goode could pull off Batman. Goode has brooding presence and intelligence, and menace.
I just can't see Jake Gyllenhaal at all as Batman - he is a good actor but looks naive and youngish, rather than super-intelligent and menacing.
Lex Luthor? Any of the candidates would do, it's Batman they really have to get right.
Jul 25th 2013, 23:16
pull off Batman.. so wrong.. (chuckles)
Jul 25th 2013, 23:41
Jake's grown as an actor, he was oustanding in End of Watch. I just have a hard time seeing Batman being British again, Henry is English and the last Bat was Welsh.
Jul 25th 2013, 23:49
How about Spartacus himself Liam McIntyre for Batman.
Jul 26th 2013, 3:34
Gerard Butler as Batman!!!!
Jul 26th 2013, 4:34
Yes please to Brolin, I hadn't considered him but as soon as I saw his pic I was reminded of the grizzled old Batman of Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns (not as old obviously, but as gnarled and mean). If TDKR is to be a significant influence then I think Brolin is ideal, Batman should be a good decade older than Superman to get the chemistry right.
Jul 26th 2013, 4:36
Not Gyllenhaal though please, he's one of those actors, like Jamie Foxx, who I frequently enjoy in supporting roles but am never remotely excited to see take the lead.
Jul 26th 2013, 5:08
Michael Rosenbaum to play Lex Luthor in Man of Steel 2 World's Finest ... poetic justice :D
Jul 26th 2013, 5:19
Smallville's Justin Scott Hartley to play Batman ... why not :P
Jul 26th 2013, 9:43
Christian as Batman if he refuses there are only two options one is already selected that Ryan Gosling but you forgot even a better option Ryan Reynolds!!!!
And for Lex without any doubt Benedict Cumberbatch of course
Jul 26th 2013, 13:52
I think WB should be brave with Batman and go with someone who I find has a compelling on screen persona: Tom Hardy. (yes I know he was Bane)
Benedict Cumberpatch and Lex would be inspired
Jul 26th 2013, 16:44
Jon Hamm obviously is a natural fit for the role, and I don't see why Superman and Batman have to be the same age. However, I think on reflection my choice for Batman would be Brandon Routh. I'm serious!
Jul 26th 2013, 17:11
Imo the BEST ACTOR for Batman would be KEVIN PORTER. He's already portrayed Batman in some fan-films from "Bat In The Sun" and he's done a great job a really is built like Batman, he really looks the part.
Jul 27th 2013, 15:56
David Boreanaz as Batman and James Marsters as Lex Luthor! How about that chickidees? Got to admit it is pretty darn creative!
Jul 27th 2013, 17:51
I think for batman Sullivan stapleton really fits the role and he can deliver but if not him i think wes bentley. Lex is harder but from what matt damon looks like in elysium i think he fits that look. I really dont know why Ryan gosling is in talks with everyone to me he seems to young looking but thats my opinion.
Jul 27th 2013, 18:47
I do love how there are 50+ comments for this article from film fans voicing their opinions when not a single one of them will count towards the studios decision. What if none of those actors mentioned above have any desire to play that role?
Jul 27th 2013, 22:49
Jake was considered for Batman Begins I think he'll be looked at again. Remember Cavil and Adams went up for Superman auditions multiple times.
Jul 28th 2013, 6:16
Aubrey. I can see what your saying... Katherine`s c0mment is something... on sunday I bought a gorgeous Cadillac after making $5869 thiss month and-also, ten-k this past munth. this is actually my favourite job I've had. Jul 28th 2013, 6:18
I checked BlackerD22's link and it looks cool actually...DO you guys have any additional info on this goo.gl/rlkw8 ?
Jul 28th 2013, 11:17
Ebeneezer is right, for $50230 if you have a problem and no-one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire the A-team.
Jul 30th 2013, 12:52
urban or armitage as batman
Aug 5th 2013, 3:31
Anson Mount, take a look!! now!!. He has the intensity just by looking at him....
Aug 7th 2013, 12:25
Karl Urban is the only one right for the role. End of discussion! :)
