Stallone never ruined Judge Dredd. It's a fun popcorn movie, which is not perfect, but better than its bad rep. If you're not taking it too serious you can enjoy yourself for a good 90mins. Pattinson - as much you you guys LOVE him??? What??? Steven Seagal is a character actor next to this guy! Downey on the other hand I could imagine. More like Roger Moore style....ladykiller with some sense of humour.

A kind of pointless article. might as well have added Danny Trejo for all the good it does.

A blonde Bond would never work...so what is Daniel Craig? Cos I'd call him blonde and I'm suuuure I remember, when he was first announced, that it was a 'thing' because he was blonde? I also think a lot of these actors wouldn't work because they are not British. Bond's are British.

Hugh Jackman maybe, i could see that? I wonder if there ever will be an American playing Bond. It must be quite a prestigious role to be given as an actor and i wonder how big a 'honor' it is considered to be in the acting community. I can't think of many other roles that are as revered as bond in terms of who gets to play the part, apart from maybe the superhero roles.

Oh, and on the Daniel Radcliffe one - does anyone remember that James Bond Junior cartoon from the early 90's? Think it was about Bond's nephew and there was a relative of Q and Felix Leiter too and i'm sure spin offs of all the famous bond villains. I'm sure Hollywood will find a way to dredge that up again

@Kellend11 "Bonds are British" Pierce Brosnan. George Lazenby. Neither British. Lazenby was in a s**t Bond film I'll give you that but Brosnan did at least Goldeneye.

I would add to this list of never to be bond, Michael Fassbender and Mark Strong, both British, and both too talented as actors to ever be 007.

smellyhands everyone has a preference, but OHMSS is considered one of the better Bond movies, despite Lazenby being pure Plasticine, it did show Bond was capable of emotions, with one of the saddest ending of any film. Also don't forget Brosnan did Die another Day, considered one of the worst Bond movies ever ie invisible car, cringingly bad surfing CGI, Madonna theme tune, Madonna acting, Madonna.

Fassbender aint British. Like Brosnan, he's Irish. Of all the choices i think he'd nail it. Elba too, but unfortunately both will probably be too old by the time Craig hangs up his tux....Im sure i read somewhere that he's down for at least another 3 films?? if its one every 2 years Tom Hardy will be 41 by that time (Probably close to the perfect age for the role maturity wise)...making him the best choice IMO.

Ok I'll bite on the Downey Jr entry... he has already proven that an American (foreign??) actor can convincingly play a British icon in the Sherlock Holmes films hasn't he? But he had a lot of goodwill stored before he took that role and an unproven American actor would generate a tabloid s**t storm worse than the one that greeted Craig... so i just answered my own question!

Even as a massive RDJ fan I hated the Holmes films, definitely wouldn't want to see him do Bond. Tom Hardy I'd say MAYBE... He's my favourite actor working atm, but he tends to act either cheeky or terrifying, I'm struggling to imagine him being charming and subtley dangerous. He can definitely do quiet menace but he always seems like he's about to explode into violence at a moments notice, whereas Bond should just seem ready for it, if you get what I mean. I agree Idris Elba would be a good choice, but he's already said he doesn't want to be percieved as 'the Black Bond' which he would be. Fassbender is awesome so perhaps... I'd vote Richard Armitage!

Oh and at the risk of being controversial... I wouldn't rule out R-Patz. I definitely wouldn't cast him within the next 15 years, but if he gets his acting chops down and matures from young pretty boy into handsome quality actor then he could be an option.

@McSerious: I disagree with your points regarding Tom Hardy. I mean, did you watch Inception? He's all classy and charming through the whole movie. I could totally see him pull off Bond!

You might as well have simply put, with the majority of these, "BECAUSE THEY'RE AMERICAN". American Bond just...It wouldn't work. They've already got one as you said, name of Bourne. *facepalm*

Brad Pitt mastered the British accent in the Devil's Own? Was that supposed to be a joke? The character he played was Irish and a member of the IRA. You couldn't have got it more wrong

From this article; it just goes to prove that Fassbender is the perfect replacement, and Hardy is a runner up. As for an American actor play Bond.... *shudder* Well if I have to choose, it'll be Jon Hamm.

Fassbender is the most logical choice to replace Craig, he'll be able to nail the physical and emotional sides to the modern Bond. Hardy is an oustanding actor but I just don't think he's charming or suave enough to pull off Bond. He'd make a great villain though.

Tom Hardy would be great as either Bond or a villain, so would Bale and Fassbender. But what about Jude Law or Clive Owen? As for an American to play Bond, I would say Downey Jr.

I agree with Ali1748, Fassbender for Bond with a Tom Hardy villain. If that happened I would do backflips like Daffy Duck until it came out. Mind you, I think Daniel Craig is outstanding in the role and as a Bond fan I'm already doing backflips that he's decided to sign on for another 2 movies after Skyfall.

Forgot to add, if an American were given the role I would boycott the franchise until their tenure was over. Look at what happened to the Aussie (although admittedly I think OHMSS is brilliant). Actors from the UK or Ireland only please. I think someone like Rufus Sewell would do a great job. Or we could have a ginger Bond with Damian Lewis.

Matt Smith is not nearly old enough to be Bond. It would be like seeing him as a child, like the Daniel Radcliffe gripe. Now David Tennant, on the other hand...

Idris Elba is mediocre and the only reason he is being considered is because he is black. If you want a black actor who has the respect of the British people and who is British in a way Bond should be Colin Salmon would be perfect. Colin Salmon also has Bond connections and is a very good actor who deserves this opportunity. Anything to get Craig away from it finally. I am amazed how ruled by flavour of the month attitude alot of people are, "Tom Hardy" or Michael Fassbender" really? Just because they have made a few good films recently does not mean they can instantly do everything correctly or the winner from bloody X Factor should be considered. Lewis Collins was turned down for being "too rough" same problem with Hardy and Fassbender does not look the part and is too rough and slimy.
