Second I saw the title I thought, "'Avatar''s going to be top, isn't it." And I was right! XD Nice to see "Up" and "How To Train Your Dragon" in here, though - never saw either in 3D, but the quality of the films supercedes the need for it imo. :)

Only saw Toy Story 3 in 2D. Regret not going back to see the 3D version. What a fantastic cinema experience it was first time round, I can only think about how much better it might have been. Oh well... at least I saw Avatar in 3D.

While Avatar might not be the best film in the world, let alone on this list, I still have to say that it is by far the best movie I've had the pleasure of watching in 3D. I was utterly blown away by it, particularly by the sequence where they blow up that big sacred tree thing. However I find that some 3D movies seem to exist only to make my head hurt, Transformers: Dark of the Moon being the prime example. I thought my brain had fell out.

Creature from the Black Lagoon is certainly a far better 3D film than a few of those!

Totally agree about Avatar being number 1. It is so far ahead of any other 3-D film that i think its slightly unfair on the others to include it. When i first saw it i thought that this was the future of film-making. It was so immersive. I guess the cost of filming it with 3-D cameras though means that for now its not going to become the mainstay of cinema style.

I can also remember Channel 4 showing Friday 13th 3 a couple of years ago, but it was the 3-D version. You had to have those red/green goggles to watch it, but if you didn't it was just a blurred screen. It was a weird experience seeing it like that on telly - don't think i've ever seen another film or program broadcast ni that way.

They missed out j*****s 3D, although it made me feel sick the use of 3D was pretty inventive. Also My Bloody Valentine looked like it would have good 3D effects. Then again the list does seem somewhat "family" orientated, maybe a list of Groundbreaking films would look a bit different.

I cannot believe you left out j*****s 3D. some very clever & inventive use of 3D in the stunts. By far and away my favorite and most memorable 3D movie. The only one i felt really immersed in it.

I've not really been impressed with 3D films with the exception of anything Pixar style. Toy Story 3, How to train your dragon and Up worked really well.

Good list, except you did not mention Comin' At Ya! (1981) and Treasure of The Four Crowns (1983). Those walong with Friday The 13th 3D were the three best of the 80's 3D craze. And for those of you interested in seeing Friday The 13th 3D in 3D, it is available on DVD in the states; not sure about the UK.

For me, the only film that £D actually enhanced the cinema experience was Avatar, so no surprise it tops this list.

Best 3D movie I have ever seen is Toy Story 3. That movie proved how good Disney and Pixar are at making movies.

@TheKingofCinema. Your explanation for why cgi kills animated films ("I think 3D kills cgi animated films because the animation it self is already 3D") is possibly the stupidest thing ever recorded. Have you forgotten that real life is also 3-dimensional?

You morons enjoy your "gimmicky" 3D. Is it the low attention spans? Does absolutely nothing for me and I'm still waiting for the day when people see it for the fad it is but with the dumbed down generation of today, I think I'll be waiting quite a while.

Journey to te Center of the Earth should be higher. Even though it is not a great movie, it is awesome in 3D
