Why We’re Excited: It seems a bit of an obvious statement, but the main reason we’re so excited for the 2011 Oscars is that they’re the frickin’ 2011 Oscars!
Like Santa Claus, they only come round once a year, and like Santa Claus it’s their job to judge who’s been naughty or nice at the cineplexes for the past dozen months. Unlike Santa Claus, the stars don’t arrive on a reindeer-dragged sled, which is a bit of a missed trick, if you ask us.
How It Could Go Wrong: In a word: disappointments. The Academy are notoriously fickle in their judging of the year’s brightest, and there could be quite a few wounds to lick once it’s all come to an end. Which is all part of the fun, of course…

Would be great if Toy Story 3 won best picture but really cant see it happening. If a juggernaut like Avatar cant even win then it has no chance. The academy rarely go beyond smart drama/thrillers. In a word they're d***s.

I'd like to see Jennifer Lawrence pick up best actress but since she's not A-list or friends with voters (hello Gwyneth Paltrow) its unlikely. Speaking of which, Jennifer Aniston is only A-list becuase she has the 'mark of Brad' upon her, none of her films make her worthy of that category. Furthermore, NEVER in a 1000 years will 'Shakespeare in love' be considered a better movie than 'Saving Private Ryan', it only won becuase of 'Bribegate'....pheww...

Ha-ha, imagine Rapace walks out to get her award as Salander, gets to the podium, takes the 'baldie' and then just stares at the audince giving them that expressionless gaze for about a minute in complete silence, and then just walks away...

I would love for Rapace to be even nominated for Best Actress; if she wins it that would be so much better :D

Whoever hasn't seen Animal Kingdom yet is missing out big time. Best movie of 2010. Watch it if you haven't (when it comes out).

I don't think the reason Avatar didn't get last year's Best Picture was due to it being a 'juggernaught', it just had a pretty Pocahontas/Fern Gully/really basic script. It was still awesome though, but i thought Hurt Locker deserved it. Inception; best picture, Colin Firth; best Actor, Natalie Portman; best actress. Not too sure who i think will get best director, would like it do be Christopher Nolan or Darren Aronofsky but i think it'll probably go to David Fincher..
