In A Nutshell: Eye-popping fly-on-the-wall look at the life of Jesco White, a self-confessed yokel and petty criminal from the poverty-and-drugs-stricken hilltop backwaters of West Virginia, who dreams of becoming a famous clog-wearing mountain dancer like his old man.
Why A Must-See? Jesco is an instant star, despite being clearly not quite right - it's like watching a doc about three different people. Heartbreakingly sensitive one minute, egotistical and aggressive the next, he frequently comes over like an LSD-frazzled Elvis wannabe from the slow readers group: pure documentary gold, in other words.

Come on Total Film! Only 18? There are literally thousands of great documentaries out there, thousands! WHY CAN'T ALL THE DOCUMENTARIES EVER MADE BE ON THIS LIST! I'm disappointed.

@ disappointed - Haha, touché! @ geekstinkbic - All great shouts, but reckon Grizzly Man and Spellbound would've been seen by a lot of people already - there are a couple of 'bigger' titles on the list, but for the most part I wanted to nudge people toward some (hopefully) unseen stuff...
