Wasn't pan's labyrinth already set at the end of world war 2. I think they reference the Normandy landings at 1 stage.

Not to be a d****e or anything, but Chris MacNeil is already famous in The Exorcist. She is a famous actress and the only reason her and the kid are in Georgetown is to shoot a movie.
