20 Things We Now Know About Avatar

"It's like dreaming with your eyes open..."

2. Avatar Has Loads Of Aliens

“Pandora is Earth like, it has lush rainforests filled with incredible life forms like a 1,000 foot tall trees, a myriad of creatures, some of which are quite beautiful, some of which are quite terrifying.“

Why This Makes Us Even More Excited

We've been waiting all this time for a glimpse at the Na'vi - we didn't know there was a myriad of creatures to get worked up about.

3. It’s An Eco-Aware Tale, With A Cameron Twist

“Pandora’s natives, the Na’vi, live in a state that we would consider primitive –bows and arrows, that sort of thing – but who ultimately prove to be much wiser than we are.

They’re 10 feet tall, blue skin, striped like tigers and quite fierce looking. They normally live harmoniously in their forest environment, but can be ferocious when provoked.”

Why This Makes Us Even More Excited

This quote does make Avatar sound a bit like the third act of Return Of The Jedi, but we like Return Of The Jedi - Ewoks and all.

This baby is either going to be Cameron's "Schindler's List" or his "Heaven's Gate." The bar's set too high for there to be any in-between.

In a time when Hollywood seems to be obsessed with prequels, sequels and reboots here's James Cameron proving that there still are an original thought or two left in Hollywood. Am unbelievably excited about this movie.

Im hopeful but concerned. No doubt this will be a UK 12a/US PG-13 so they can try and get as many people in and make as much money as possible. I understand that, but such films are usually 'watered down for the masses', and end up being weak, cartoonish, special-effects action films (like the Mummy films or Transformers films). Cameron has a great track record but no-one only makes great films (Speilberg hasn't managed it in 15 years, and he's one of the best!), so im going to temper my excitement until we know a bit more.
Also im red/green colour blind so the 3D could be a problem - anyone know?
