Alex Van Halen was definitely not in Robocop! Keva Rosenberg was played by James Staszkiel.

Missed a couple of good ones - 2 "kings of Madchester" have movie cameos to their name - Stone Roses frontman Ian Brown crops up magically stirring a cup of tea in one of the Harry Potter movies (forget which one) and Tim Booth of James is in Batman Begins. I think as the fairly famous Bat Villain, Victor Zsasz

This list could have been dedicated to 24 Hour Party People. Cameos included: Paul and Shaun Ryder, Mani, Mark E. Smith, Mike Pickering, Dave Haslam, Vini Reilly, Tony Wilson (not a musician, but a vital figure in musical history), Howard Devoto, Rowetta, Clint Boon. Well done for not even mentioning one of them. They don't come any obscurer.

Did your iPhone auto-correct "obvious" to "obscure"? Because seriously, if not, I wonder if you actually know what the word obscure means.

Van Halen, 80's GLAM rockers? Somehow I think they and their fans would take offense to that! ;)

Yes, as a VH fan I do thake offense to the term glam rockers. Also to the fact that the guy in the picture is so incredibly not Alex Van Halen.

I can't believe that people still think that's Alex Van Halen in Robocop! Any VH fan (and anybody who can see), would see that James Staszkiel, who that was, doesn't look anything like AVH!

Beach Boy Brian Wilson's appearance in My Own Private Idaho should be on the list... Also, a very young Chris Isaak in a blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment in japanese sci-fi film Message From Space, from 1978... Even funnier (even if it's a TV cameo), the great Frank Zappa as a drug dealer in an episode of Miami Vice... And how the hell could you miss George Harrison's cameo in Life of Brian?...

Also... The great late Levon Helm, so memorable as the blind old man asking Tommy Lee Jones to kill him in TLJ's The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada.
