No one is looking forward to POTC 5, the Terminator series without Cameron is just another empty cash cow.

I'm not really enthused about any of this.. Just a load of big money sequels and endless superhero guff.. There are five original movies on your list! Five out of 27, and we're supposed to be excited by that? Like the look of the Outsider though..

this list just demonstrates how lacking the ideas of Hollywood are these days. You mention Back to the Future but when was the last time something as original and down right brilliant as that came out. I enjoyed the dark Knight trilogy but frankly super hero films are ten a penny. Watching Man of Steel I genuinely thought if I see one more person thrown through the side of a building I'm out of here. Yes I will watch Star Wars but I do question what the point is in going back to the series (apart from making Disney a gazillion dollars!) Its all rather sad really

kardom10 - did you wait until the very end of the film to issue that ultimatum, or did you decide not to walk out after all?

I really don't understand this idea that hollywood or cinema can't make any good stories anymore, why do people complain so much about it. There are thousands of good films out there with fantastic stories every year, always really well received and critically acclaimed, some not so well acclaimed but end up becoming cult films. No ones forcing you to go see these reboots/sequels/adaptations, but they are also really well done when it comes to it.

"Navy SEAL (Chris Kyle, pictured above) recounts an incredible military career which saw more than 150 confirmed kills on his record". Is this supposed to be a good thing Totalfilm? 150 deaths? Jesus! What kind of world are we living in?

Okay, Avatar's effects are amazing, but people were expecting way more from the story. I highly doubt the sequel will make as much money as the first one did, that was mainly because of a lucky release date. If any movie is gonna beat Avatar's box office it'll be Mockingjay, Avengers 2 or Star Wars 7...maybe all of them will

Why are they splitting Mockingjay into 2 parts? They haven't even started filming it yet, have they? So how can they know that it will bee too big to be one film. Was it Twilight or Potter that started this trend of filming the last book of a series in two parts? I can't remember, but it just seems an obvious money-spinning ploy from the studios now. I've read the hungergames books, and although I do think they are decent enough to be made into films, they are no where near as epic or grand in scope as needing a third movie to be split into two

Oh no all of these are sequels.... what are we gonna do? It's not like sequels have been around for decades, no, this is just a sign of the apocalypse! It's not like Shakespeare did sequels, prequels or remakes, no, this is clearly showing that all talent in Hollywood is dead! Seriously, what a load. It's not about whether or not it's an original story, it's about how well it's executed, and it's staggering how many people seem to forget that.

@vincevega, I didn't say people weren't looking for forward to T5 only POTC 5. I was merely pointing out that the Terminator franchise without Cameron is just another excuse to milk the series to extremes. I too will be watching it, mostly out of curiosity as to how they will keep the movie afloat, despite Connor stopping the war (T2) then not stopping it( T3), then sort of winning but not (T4)

Probably won't be the case, but I wish the Terminator franchise would move on from John Conner. Somebody must be able to write a story about somebody else that has been affected by the Robotic takeover. I read a comment somewhere with a person making a joke about a terminator going all the way back to the late 1800s (old west) to take out a Conner ancestor. The writer of the comment was joking, but I actually thought that was a hell of an idea!

MattBurgess - no I didn't walk out. I enjoyed parts of it, I thought Cavill was great but some of the action sequences were so frenetic that I couldn't tell who was fighting who most of the time. Oh and there wasn't nearly enough Costner in it - the guy is a legend. StevePotter - yes I see your point about execution of story and maybe I do look at films with rose tinted nostalgia these days but when I was a young lad it was films like Back to the Future, The Goonies, Ghostbusters, the original Star Wars trilogy, ET, Indiana Jones etc. Those films are embedded in popular culture so much now that they are remembered with a warm glow consciousness. I can't think of many films of the past few years that we will still be quoting and talking about fondly in 30 years

2015 marks the return of some of the biggest franchises in movie history all at once. The quality of those films is another matter. They could all be big-budget bombs like this summer's blockbusters, in which case, it could be the end of an era as far as movies of that type go. Spielberg's recent comments about Hollywood's implosion could be borne out in 2015 when they put all their chips on the table in such a spectacular way and bet the lot. I'm hoping the films do well as nobody want's to see all small-budget indie movies all the time, we need variety.

And the POTC movies have always felt like The Hangover and Bridesmaids to me, they were huge hits that everyone raved about but upon closer examination, they're not actually that good. Johnny Depp's Jack Sparrow is hugely overrated and not that funny, but bums on seats are all that matters and there are legions of easily-pleased punters out there lapping it up.

On IMDb, Independence Day 2 is called ID Forever Part I with Independence Day 3 called ID Forever Part II. The script for both movies is by James Vanderbilt (The Amazing Spider-Man, Zodiac) with original director Roland Emmerich is listed as director on both films.
