The Movie: A musical that doesn’t depend on glitzy costumes and layers of make-up for its entertainment and heart, this drama from director John Carney follows an immigrant couple’s attempts to turn their love story into a musical.
Traipsing the streets of Dublin, they imprint their lives on the music they create. A moving modern musical.
Vision Of Ireland: Flush with aural wonders.

WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You found room for a piece of c**p like The Devil's own and middling fare like The Van (and don't get me started on Far and a-frigging Way) , but ignored I Went Down and The Secret of Kells? This list is pathetic.

This is real lazy stuff. Grab anything with the slightest whiff of Irishness slap it on the list. Far & Away for the love of God. And What is that image from on number 23 for Into the West? Somebody help me with this one please.

Agreed. We're not quite sure how Far & Away made it's way into this list, but we've deleted it from history. If only we could do the same to the film...

We stand by the rest of the list, though. The Van's a lovely film.

Amen, ChrisWootton. And again, I have to say I am disappointed at the overlooking of I Went Down, especially when Total Film was the only film mag to really sing it's praises (listing it in the top films of 1998 and hailing it as a lost classic in 2001). Poor show, TF.

Wow who wrote the description for Once. It's so inaccurate it hurts. For one the guy isn't an immigrant, they aren't a couple and I don't recall them having a goal of making a musical. He's a local, she's the immigrant. She convinces him to record his music, they gather musicians and make some music. They bond and create a strong friendship but that's it.

You nitwits left out Breakfast on Pluto and The Secret of Kells. Other than that, it's awesome to see a list of good Irish films.

I could not care less about St. Patricks day, but do believe its Shamrocks, not four leaf Clovers.
