A Teacher

Hannah Fidell’s debut sees a cocky high-school kid get it on with his hot young teacher. It’s the first act of Adam Sandler’s That’s My Boy, without the smirking.

In fact, nary a smile is raised throughout this lean indie, whose po-facedness can seem like an affectation, but also casts a quietly intense spell.

No prizes for guessing that the liaison swiftly turns dangerous, but the downward spiral is infused with suspense thanks to Fidell’s taut handling and Lindsay Burdge’s lead performance.

It’s a highly contained turn, but leaves little doubt of the desire and desperation raging under the surface.

      Of course, in the real world, most porn addicts wouldn't bag someone like Johansson. At least I think. You'd more than likely end up with the 50 cigs a day 30 year old with 17 kids who looks like she's 55.

      I truly cannot give a s**t when people say Radcliffe is good in a movie, it is physically impossible.

      Fruitvale won the Grand Jury Prize and should definitely be number one; i was there in the theater during the first showing of it and everybody was in tears.
