If you've watched Anchorman enough to know what the name of the restaurant is when translated, then you should also know that the name of the female lead is Veronica Corningstone, as played by Christina Applegate and her exquisite breasts!

Sorry to be pedantic but there is no Evil Dead poster in A Nightmare on Elm Street, but Nancy is watching it on TV in one scene

BazVanderClap - You're quite right of course. Momentary brain-freeze on my part!

On another pedantic note these are all in-jokes, not Easter Eggs - which are entirely different. Do a bit of research and you'll realise this.

Yeah I thought Easter Eggs were something completely different... these are in-jokes... I thought the Eggs were something you discovered when pressing enter at the right moment or menu two or three times.. that kinda thing.

When talking about DVDs, you're absolutely right - usually a hidden extra tucked away somewhere on one of the menu screens. In the context of a movie itself, it usually refers to a hidden message or subtle in-joke for eagle-eyed viewers!

When talking about movies, I think it's the same if you talk about easter-eggs or in-jokes. It's true though that dvd-menus, softwares etc. give more to the term easter-egg.. anyhow, nice and fun collection of these - what ever they are. Only few I knew before. But some good ones are missing like Terminator's reboot log (= mac log containing ie. "Quick Time Player") from Terminator 3. :)

I think the more clever in-joke for King Kong was when Adrian Brody was taken onto the ship to stay in the cage... they passed by a cage labeled Sumatran Rat Monkey which was a funny nod to fans of Peter Jackson & his Dead Alive movie.

They mentioned getting Eddie Brock in one the first two Spider-Man Movies but he'd only begun working for them in Spidey 3. Just one of the many ways they bolloxed the character of Venom and, indeed, Spidey with that p**s poor abortion of a movie.,

You missed a couple...In Godzilla the Simpsons connection is furthered by Hank Azaria. In King Kong, on the ship a crate in the hold is marked `Sumatran Rat Monkey` which i think you`ll find references an earlier more modest Peter Jackson film!

The in-joke in Maverick deserves so much more credit! In the scene where Danny Glover is robbing the bank and sharing a loitering stare with Mel Gibson the music changes and the "Riggs" theme is worked into the score. Surely a complete musicgasm for any film music geek!

What about Monsters, Inc., at the end when Sulley grabs the toys for Boo when he brings her back to her room and she has a Marlin doll from Finding Nemo?

Also, in Tarzan, Mrs. Potts and Chip from Beauty and the Beast can be plainly seen when Terk, Tantor and the apes trash the Porter's campsite.

Maybe that "THX1138" wish on the Return Of The Jedi slide was a joke, but Lucas HAS referenced it in at least one. In A New Hope, disguised Stormtrooper Luke tells the Imperial commander that their bringing Chewbacca in is a "prisoner transfer from Cell Block 1138."

I don't want to seem redundant, but Lucas uses THX 1138 all the time. From a license plate in American Graffiti to its use in other director's films that he's produced, it shows up all the time. I must say the appearance of Danny Glover and the Riggs theme is priceless in Maverick. Dick Donner uses those Easter Egg callbacks a lot in movies, as he used a lot in Superman and a few others.

There's an old Doris Day picture, "The Thrill of It All," where she becomes a TV commercial star. The ad agency executives who make the commercials are named Mr. Stokely, Mr. VanKamp (pork & beans) and Mr. Billings.
