The Die Hard series died hard with Mclane jumping the Shark / jet in number 4. And don't get me started on the last Indiana Jones movie, theres not enough room for that level of ranting...

Did Wes Craven direct three installments of the ANoES franchise? Thought it was just the first and New Nightmare.

I've come to love Jaws: The Revenge, it's garbage but at least it's entertaining in its own way.

I liked "Naked Gun 33 1/3" ... way better than most comedies nowadays (..do I need to say Aaron Seltzer??). Also I quite enjoyed "Blair Witch 2". After the hype from the first one it was impossible to please the fans. But I think they did right to do something totally different. I also feel bad for the Star Trek TNG crew. I think it deserved a better goodbye than this. The showdown was pretty well done, but getting rid of Data was probably a mistake. But I would've liked to see more of them.

Can it be considere a franchise killer if there was/has coming up a reboot?

"Clash of the Titans" 2010 should have been on here, given what utter bloody b*llocks and how much of an incompetent film it was. Sadly, "Wrath of the Titans" happened.

But we need about 11 new Jaws films in the next two years, as Back to the future part two promises us Jaws 19

I'm with @Bandit1 on the TNG thing. Nemesis wasn't *that* bad, but TNG deserved a better farewell nonetheless.

Oh, and John Carter is as "lukewarm" a film as I've ever seen. It's got all the right ingredients, but the mixture just isn't right.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3 isn't a franchise killer because TMNT is the fourth film in that series. If anything TMNT is a series killer because they went CGI so it'd be odd to go backwards

Terrible list....what the hell is wrong with Rescuers Down Under???? And where is Die Hard 4 (or at the very least Die Hard 5)?? And you could argue about the technical details but what about Green Lantern? surely the DC 'franchise' cannot recover from that....

Alien 3 killed the series years before Resurrection. c**p film though AR was, it was left with nowhere to go by the idiotic decision to kill off all the survivors from Aliens (including Ripley). Also where are Die Hard 4.0, Terminator 3 and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull?

Highlander II killed all the promise of the original film and set the bar low enough for all the c**p sequels and tv series that followed. Footnote: I actually enjoyed Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle.

Most of these I agree with but I have to admit, I enjoyed Predators, Green Lantern and John Carter. They were all solid action movies and I don't think they deserved to be slated as much as they were. Predators was fairly faithful to the original and brought in a great idea of kidnapping humans to a game reserve planet (and Lawrence Fishburne was a joy to watch). Green Lantern was good humoured with some good action set pieces (okay, the effects were a bit ropey). I actually loved John Carter, it was smart, entertaining and funny. I think this movie suffered from having a plot that involved many species, characters and settings which confused the popcorn munching Americans.

Wes Craven only directed two "Nightmare" movies. And "New Nightmare" isn't so much as a franchise-killer as it was a franchise ender. Seriously, it seems like the readers of this site know more than the writers. Or have better access to IMDb.

TF never said Wes Craven directed 3 Nightmare films. Wes Craven did only direct 2 films, however he was involved in the making of the 3rd film - he wrote it.

Why does everyone keep saying Die Hard 4.0 when that isn't a franchise killer seeing as Die Hard 5 existed? (Now that could be a franchise killer!) One to add would be Dredd. That film was awesome, but it also a bomb and it sucks that we may never see sequels come about from it.

What c**p list!, especially couldn't agree with the comments about Predators, the reason it fail was because of the c**p casting, Adrien Brody's physique is not terriffying, you'd see a lot better at the gym and getting a Pee Wee Herman lookalike with a big nose and doing a Christian Bale's Batman impression wasn't going to save the franchise, Laurence Fishburne is way too fat for the part and Topher Grace is ... well Topher Grace!! danny Trejo goes out way too early and he dies like a b***h!

Thanks for showing Tomb Raider 2 a little love! I was in my teens when it came out and really enjoyed it, but after its critical mauling I had to stay mum about the fact. It also helps that Gerard Butler looks quite sexy in it. Just a shame about the mad ending.
