Drew Struzan is definitely a master of his craft.

Not Drew Struzan but Richard Amsel illustrated the posters for 'Raiders of the Lost Ark'. See the bottom right corner of Greatest poster #1 for Amsel's signature.

Much prefer John Alvin's representations here. Even TF admits to preferring his Blade Runner over that of Drew Struzan's. In fact, the irony that most of Struzan's work highlighted in this feature is the 80's equivalent of Photoshop (tracing stills from the movies and arranging them all together to form a larger picture) isn't lost on me! Whereas Alvin had a real knack for creating something evocative and awe inspiring from scratch.

I would've placed the poster from the 1986 horror film House on the list. The dismembered hand ringing a doorbell is awesome, plus it's about as eighties as you can get. check it out at http://www.impawards.com/1986/house.html

"It would be a low-point in studio stupidity. Why would you ever photoshop an animated film?" The second I read this I knew it was a George Wales list, checking up top confirmed it. This guy seriously sucks.

Nice list. You could have had every Stars Wars movie on the list. I think the list should include more Disney films. The older Disney movie posters like Snow White were awesome.

That Watchmen isn't even hand drawn, it's just a heavily shopped photo.

KingofSpain you are a ponce and you don't know what you're talking about. If you had any knowledge of posters, you would realize that, as total film does, that Drew Struzan DID create the Raiders Of The Lost Ark poster! He my not have done the one with the whip, but he certainly did the 'temple' design with Indy standing next to Marion. You make yourself look like an ignorant fool too when you say that Struzan traced everything WTF! John Alvin's likeness on Blade Runner doesn't even resemble Harrison Ford! John Alvin cut and pasted over photos. Drew Struzan painted them from scratch. BTW Ridley Scott has always preferred Struzan's poster - check out the book if you don't believe me. The idiots in the marketing department thought differently - and the movie flopped.

For shame!!! Not one Bob Peak poster on this list?! He was only THE master of modern movie poster illustrating and paved the way for people like Drew Struzan and Richard Amsel. He illustrated by hand some of the greatest works of art ever to hit Hollywood including such masterworks as his posters for "West Side Story", "Apocalypse Now", "Excalibur", "Hair", "The Missouri Breaks", "Superman", "In Like Flint", "Camelot", "The Spy Who Loved Me", etc. There are too many to list. His "Star Trek" posters alone are magnificent and belong on this list. And another thing, I love Drew's Star Wars poster, but the Hilderbrant's version is much more recognizable and probably a better design.
