THis p**ses me off as well. Marcus Brody in Raiders of the lost ark came across as an older version of DR Jones. There's a great line where he says that he wished he was going with him, implying that they've had awesome adventures together in the past. Then they turned him into some kind of comedy buffoon just so little kids have something to giggle at. Basically they took a fantastic movie which didn't need to be dumbed down (I was 6 when I saw Raiders, and it gave me my love of cinema) and a*s f****d it beyond belief until we get some prick from the Transmorphers movies swinging through a f*****g green screen studio with computer generated monkeys. For two Hollywood Powerhouses to honestly let Skulls get released in the state it was points to one thing.. They are taking the p**s out of us. f**k Lucas, f**k Spielberg and everything else they do in the future.

I thought Indy watching the truck blowing up "Marion!" in the first one was pretty good, it showed Indy had an emotional core that had yet been realised and when he finds her and then refuses to untie her is just genius. John WIlliams deserves more than a passing reference, the 'Raiders' fanfare (admit it, its in your head right now) has becomes synonamous with adventure and escape and the truck chase music complements the action, almost drives it along... Raiders was slimline action, there was no 'save point' narrative.. it went from set piece to set piece, without losing momentum or the human perspective, something that hasnt been matched since Die Hard.

Completely agree with that as well Hadouken. They don't make em like that anymore, I guess we can thank Independence Day for inventing the "Money Shot". After that, the summer event movie completely changed and as you say we then see the "save point" narrative taking hold.

@hadouken The truck blowing up in front of Indy was really good but probably topped by the following seen with Belloq "You wanna talk to God? Lets go see him together, I've got nothing better to do" You never see Indy more p********f than here and it's great. Also there are great parallels between this scene and the Joker/Batman relationship. I will also say that although not quite up there with Raiders and Die Hard as a whole, in terms of slimline action and "save point" narrative, Speed was no slouch, (even with Keanu)

"Does anyone here speak English? Or even Ancient Greek?" I agree that Marcus went through a weird transformation in the 2 years between Raiders and Crusade, but this line just about makes it worthwhile. And it's worth bearing in mind that Brody may have lightened up since the existence of God was proved unequivocally at the end of the first film. That, or he experienced some form of mental breakdown, which would be understandable.

Are you talking about the Indy film or that useless Paul Walker/Joshua Jackson film. Either way I'd understand

Am I the only one who 1) thinks Short Round is cool ("You call him Dr Jones doll!") and 2) loves the banter between Indy and Willie after the banquet ("I'm a scientist...")? In fact, I love the whole of Temple of Doom, every bit as much as Raiders of the Lost Ark. There, I've said it! Let the flaming begin! (ducks for cover...)

Ha nice one Murphy.. I would actually rather watch the skulls and skulls 2 on a loop for a year than watch anything else Lucas attempts to spew onto our screens. What's happened with that fighter pilot movie he's done? I know someone who is in it (very very small part) but he filmed that about 3 years ago. I bet he's trying to incorporate some kind of CGI Nazi who has 12 arms all with different guns attached to them... who has Asthma.... probably. Jimzilla, you're not on your own there.. Short Round is cool and the beginning of Temple of Doom was excellent.

That's Red Tails which is out next year I think. The CGI Nazi idea is a great one though... Unless he keeps getting his a*s kicked running away and then dies in a very underwhelming fight.
