The Monster: Trolls of various shapes, sizes and temperament. They have one thing in common – they hate humans. A lot.
The Movie: Norwegian mock doc that follows weary troll hunter Hans (Otto Jespersen). He’s sick of doing the government’s dirty work, so agrees to be filmed going about his business – with both horrific and hilarious results.
Coolest Detail: A troll can smell out a Christian man in the wild, no matter how far away he is. Now that’s one sensitive nozzle.

How are you defining modern? About the last 15 years? There's a few films from the early 90s I would have liked to have seen in there. Nightbreed for instance. It might be ridiculously flawed, but it hints at genius throughout and the Nightbreed are a misunderstood fantastically realised race of monsters.

Couple of things... the second Lord of the Rings Movie is called the Two Towers, not the Twin Towers. Also, Deep Blue Sea? In a list of greatest anything? Behave!

Why does everyone always forget The Relic? Fun little movie. Linda Hunt makes anything she's in better & a brilliant monster by the king Stan Winston.

District 9 definitely my favorite on the list. It shows how bringing creative and well made creatures into filmed locations makes for a better and more involving movie. James Cameron could learn something from the "rookie" director. Spelling and factual mistakes ruined the list. Splice's "eyes" comment stumped me for a while as I figured out what is wrong with her yes. Twin Towers? REALLY? And are you going to say that LL Cool J is in Deep Blue Sea and leave out Sammy J? S'wrong witchu?

What about Alien Vs. Predator? They're pretty awesome film monsters. Not to mention the "zombie" like creatures from I Am Legend, they're creepy forms of humans!

@Shelbiie the list is about great modern monsters.... the s****y cgi creatures in I am Legend are some of the worst ever in recent history... completely ruined the film. Winning again!! nice list but proof read, proof read, proof read! At least have the decency to change the awful Two Towers mistake!
