Good to see 'Tourist Trap' getting a mention. Low budget but creepy and atmospheric. The slasher film seems to be the most maligned sub-genre in horror and yet it has produced some excellent films on very low budgets ('Halloween' being a prime example). Just a shame Hollywood sees fit to endlessly remake the classics instead of developing new material. Still looking forward to a new Chucky though!

Crazy theory i know, but i always saw Predator as a form of slasher movie. Where instead of the victims being nubile defensless teens, the ones being picked off are in fact the worlds most dangerous men (and Hawkins)...like i said, crazy theory

What this list has shown us, is that some of the best films from the 70's and 80's should never be remade! This link pretty much says it all http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/markkermode/2011/04/scare_stories.html But yeah good list!

Great to see Halloween at number 1. It is, and always will be, the best slasher flick ever made! And it will always be my favourite film ever!

Pretty good list, but I have a complaint; what about The Funhouse, Terror Train, Silent Night Deadly Night, Hell Night, The Initiation, Slumber Party Massacre?? And if we're gonna talk Italian horrors, what about Blood & Black Lace, Tenebrae, I could go on & on, but some would hardly be considered "best". All of these were honorable mentions left out for the likes of REEKER?! Oh please..
