30 TV Shows That Should Be Movies
From your front room to the multiplex...
By Total FilmMar 18th 2011Being Human
The Show: Amid a proliferation of angst-ridden Vampire weepathons, BBC3’s quirky supernatural drama struck upon the genius concept of taking a bloodsucker, pairing him with a werewolf and a ghost and bunging them in the mundane situ of a flatshare in Bristol. Naturally there were all sorts of mythological goings-on to follow, but the laugh-out-loud humour surrounding their attempts to live a normal life meant Being Human stood out from a crowded field.
The Movie Version: The show has already been ported over for a US remake, so the concept has obviously got legs. This could work on the big screen as a more light-hearted Underworld in which Vampires wrestle with humankind for supremacy, whilst the ghosts and werewolves meander round chucking their oar in left right and centre.
Cast: Colin Farrell can have Aidan Turner’s role as the lead vampire, with Colin Hanks as George the werewolf and Zoe Saldana as Annie the ghost.
Original Cast Cameo: Turner returns as the ghost of the long-dead Mitchell. Can vampires return as ghosts? A bit of lore-tweaking should iron that issue out.
How Likely Is It? Original creator Toby Whithouse has had to fight tooth and nail to keep getting the show re-commissioned so we’d say this one is fairly unlikely. Still, there’s always room for another vampire movie…

What about Knightmare with Tobin Bell? "Oooh Nasty" or Saturday morning cartoon Dungeons and Dragons, the best character was Presto, a teenage wizard who wore spectacles (thank god no-ones ripped him off ).

Being Human???!!!! really , the show has been limping along for ages with a sub-par vampire, an f a cup werewolf, a stout grimacing female werewolf and a ghost so irritating you'd have killed her yourself. Pleeeeeeaaasssee better suggestions. Good one on sons of anarchy and burn notice though. How about things like carnivale, dexter. Anything, but not being human, into the toilet with it, where it belongs. i havent seen such a load of piffle since torchwood, cardiff , who cares about cardiff. Wales isnt even a proper country.

Why should all these movies be American? I hate how everything gets "americanized" these days.. There are lots of great British movies too! Apart from that, I think both Dexter and Pushing Daisies would make great movies!

Erm...why bother recasting the more recent shows? Why not just stick with the exisitng/original TV cast? They obviously can do the parts...d'uh! And I have to agree with the comment about Americanising everything. Sigh.

some really cool ideas being floated around in here. One show that, I feel, gets overlookd all the time in the sci fi genre is The 4400. It was a tad uneven, but the character developments of the main cast was top notch throughout and the acting was kick a*s. Some of the randomly inserted "villian of the week" story lines got tiresome, but when they did a 4 or 5 episode arc, that show was untouchable as far as Im concerned, for instance the Boyd gelder episodes, or the . It also had some of the coolest superpowers, Alanas' in particular. And how can you not love a series that includes Joel Gretsch, Jaqueline MacKenzie, Peter Coyote, Bill Campbell, Summer Glau and the absolutely stunning (although probably not the best actress) Megalyn Echikunwoke. I've watched the entire 4 season series through twice, the only other series Ive watched through twice are The Sopranos and The Wire (not counting comedies like Big Bang Theory, American Dad and Seinfeld). Makes for great TV. I hope they get their s**t together and do a movie (c'mon HBO or Showtime....) and wrap up some storylines. P.S. whoever mentioned a Dexter movie....that is both a great idea and a terrible idea. Great because I would love to see a dark and twisted Dexter on the huge screen, terrible because I would hate paying 20 bucks to see it, and there is no way I could miss that movie.
