The Mad Moment:  Marlon Brando wins his second Oscar for The Godfather...but he's not there.  Instead, Sacheen Littlefeather turns up in Apache dress to announce that, because of Hollywood's mistreatment of Native Americans on- and off-screen, he won't accept the award.

It later transpired 'Littlefeather' may well have been an actress hired specifically for the occasion.

How It Should Have Happened:  If Brando really wanted to make a point, he should have had his fellow nominees scalped.
