Why does everyone seem to think that The Book of Eli was a movie version of Fallout 3? Sure there are similarities but it isn't. So stop it.
Oct 4th 2011, 9:39
@QuietLife is correct. Eli was a great example of the potential of the post-apocalyptic genre, but it is no Fallout 3. Fallout couold make an awesome coming of age trilogy, with each part detailing a section of the Vault Dwellers journey towards bringing hope back to the wasteland. I'd love to see Gears of War as a movie but I cannot see how it would work... Halo Reach would be a great introduction to the world of Halo for a cinema audience (more than the original Halo trilogy would) due to Noble team not being as faceless as Master Chief. The Noble 6 character might even pave the way for audiences to accept a faceless lead character and allow for a Master Chief movie in the future. I hope so, but I won't hold my breath. They must make a Limbo movie though, and Del Toro must do it...
Oct 4th 2011, 9:45
Guillermo Del Toro directing Lil Chris? Bahahahahaha! Dalidab, your comments here will never be taken seriously again. Bahahahaha! I would say your going for style over substance, but there's no style here.
Oct 4th 2011, 9:55
Neill Blomkamp should make a Timesplitters movie. The story from Timesplitters: Future Perfect with Ron Perlman as Cortez.
Oct 4th 2011, 11:20
Also there could be a really cool extended cameo in each time period. John Cleese as Captain Ash, Luke Wilson as Harry Tipper, Mila Kunis as Jo-Beth and Grace Park as Amy Chen.
Oct 4th 2011, 11:26
@dalidab1982- do you have aspergers?

Am I the only one that thinks it is simply not necessary to make a film out of any of these many classic video games at all? Before you criticise me, hear me out.
I think the videogame medium has grown into a powerful source of storytelling and realism in its own right. Simply put, it's become a respected art form. So to adapt a video game requires the same respect for the source material that book or comic adaptions require. It's this lack of respect that leads to the like of Boll or Anderson butchering many videogame adaptations.
So respect is the key word here. Failing that, don't make any films out of these videogames at all.
Oct 4th 2011, 12:45
How about Goldeneye with that bloke from Remington Steel?
Oct 4th 2011, 13:05
Very droll ChrisWootton! XD
Oct 4th 2011, 13:13
As a kid, I always wished my favourite game 'Myth: History In The Making' (Commodore 64) got an adaptation. These days, after Clash and The Immortals, it really doesn't seem such a stretch to imagine it.
It had a nice little back-story, amazing graphics and sound wizardry, and real atmosphere.
Recently, the C64 Orchestra performed the theme - go on, give a listen and imagine it....

I'd love to see the Final Fantasy series turned into films but it'd be difficult to do it live-action. I'd love to see Alan Wake to be turned into a film as it was a brilliant game and then there's the Devil May Cry series which has been needed to be turned into a film for a while. There's GTA too but that's like a thirty-hour film in itself. Max Payne would be better if it stuck to its original source. So many games could be great films but they probably won't be made or they'll just be made badly. :/
Dalidab - what in the name of a whales vagina are you going on about??! It's like reading the memoirs of a future serial killer! How about a film based on Fifa 07??
Oct 4th 2011, 13:20
Max Payne - done properly - would have been awesome!!!! Oh well
Oct 4th 2011, 13:21
Just when you thought Dalidab couldn't get any worse.... also, by the what the f**k is up with casting Chiwetel Ejiofor as Marcus Fenix???? WTF? Cast Travolta, or Nick Chinlund.
Oct 4th 2011, 13:41
What about Metal Gear Solid, they talk about it but they never do it... why the hell not. Just rip the big cinematic scenes they already have in there, bring the Gods from Konami in to fill in the gaps, and ship it out to make the money. Would much rather see a live action adaptation though, in which case use the games as a perfect storyboard, I don't know why its taken them so long...
Oct 4th 2011, 13:55
For all those films, you know that in reality it will be Directed By: Uwe Boll and it will be complete and utter pants.
Oct 4th 2011, 14:00
Videogames as films are useless, because videogames are immersive and eat up hours like nothing else. Anyone remember Syndicate? THAT was a game. Ive read the Rainbow Six novel, it would make a great mini-series. Also Elder Scrolls 4 :Oblivion
Oct 4th 2011, 14:27
if they make a Heavy Rain-movie, surely you cannot bypass Fahrenheit then? Maybe they could merge the two games by using the same investigator. Quantic Dream-games are basically movies anyway :).
A movie based on the Lost Vikings would also be cool (I can see an action-comedy in this, directed by Chris Columbus)
Oct 4th 2011, 15:03
Uncharted: Drakes Fortune will be a great movie (I hope) but only if the story of the game is retained. I think most people who are fans of the games want to see the stories they love turned into movies that will last for years to come. The problem with a lot of good games is that they are left floundering on the systems of their time and when the games are remade, they are never as good (There is a remake of Syndicate in the works, Hadouken. Beware...). Personally, I'd love Hollywood to make film versions of Flashback, Another World, Syndicate, and Silkworm...
Oct 4th 2011, 15:57
I wouldn't mind seeing a Broken Sword movie. The first game, Shadow of the Templars, reminds me so much of Da Vinci Code. Done by the right people, it could have a lot of potential...
i do sometimes seriously doubt your credentials. why would you say Vin Diesel has to be in a Halo movie??? keep that talentless bald skull away from a halo movie unless we want a legendary game franchise movie to turn into chronicles of riddick.
WHOA... You guys should have replaced some of these crappier video games with classic bad a*s ones... Like Metal Gear Soild, Bale is a huge fan and would make a lovely Snake.. PT Anderson is interested in directing, the two would be a great pair!
Oct 4th 2011, 15:58
Oct 4th 2011, 16:00
Oh and David Lynch would have to be the director to tackle Bioshock... he's got a love for all things 50's and since the underwater city of Rapture was created then who better then take on and completly nail the creepy feel, then the master of nightmares himself!
Oct 4th 2011, 16:07
Beyond Good and Evil..... it just HAS to happen.
Also, if someone could somehow get it to work, I'd love to see Crash Bandicoot on the big screen. That furry b*****d was my childhood :D
Oct 4th 2011, 16:13
Metroid would just be amazing, I hardly care about the rest. Of course, nobody knows how it would happen because Nintendo is not one to give out rights to just anybody, and honestly I don't know what studio and director would ever be chosen. May not be Mainstream, only some possibility they'd be American, I really don't know. But Favreau could do it, and ScarJo should be Samus.
Oct 4th 2011, 17:19
Metal Gear Solid 2, Alan Wake, Borderlands and a film of Batman Arkham Asylum using the same Batman look as in the game and including characters like Killer Croc and Poison Ivy. Nolans batman series is amazing but theres room for another title just as dark but not as quite grounded in reality.
Oct 4th 2011, 17:31
Matthew Fox for Mass effect
Oct 4th 2011, 18:58
assassins creed is too cool to be not made into a trilogy. a film that has sci-fi and period drama and incredible action, only instead of hardy please cast christian bale as altair and ezio and desmond hanes too! the guy can handle different looks and he is so good with that anonymous factor too thanks to batman, and get ridley scoot to direct this one. and please make metal gear solid again christian is perfect for that role. and please, please for heavens sake reboot prince of persia and resident evil films. those are my favorite games. and haunting ground and clock tower anyone? nice horror movie both would make!!
Oct 4th 2011, 19:34
Didnt see MONKEY ISLAND if any computer game should be a film it's this
Oct 4th 2011, 19:48
They would have to wait a while to do Monkey Island with the Pirates films only being recent. Would seem like a cash in otherwise. How about Zelda? It may be a lot to fit into one film but as we're just throwing suggestions about it could be a trilogy telling the story of his childhood in the first. Need a good child actor to carry the film though.

Oct 4th 2011, 22:59
anyone play Black? .. it was killtacular ! Never mind a film remake, i want it remade for Xbox!
Oct 4th 2011, 23:13
@Hadouken76 I'm with ya there. Only 8 missions, quite short, no multiplayer but loved every minute (apart from the last room which was a let down). Especially when you got to blow up that huge gas cylinder about half way through.
Oct 4th 2011, 23:20
Yeah those little basstards with the shields, magnum to the head! Good times..
Oct 4th 2011, 23:30
And also the best uzi in videogame history
Oct 4th 2011, 23:31
When I saw this new feature, I silently said to myself, "Total Film *will* have forgotten it." And they had. What I am really surprised about is that no one has mentioned it, seeing as it has been on several Best Games of All Time lists and sure as frak any successful completion of the game could be turned directly into a movie vastly superior to the stupid alien invasion "blockbusters" Hollywood has inflicted on us since Independence Day. I am, of course, talking about UFO: Enemy Unknown. And, for that matter, it's equally fine sequel, X-Com: Terror from the Deep. Director? Neill Blomkamp - he can give us kick-a*s action *and* aliens with personality.
Oct 5th 2011, 2:06
SHUT THE F U C K UP dalidab. Nobody cares about your opinions on ANYTHING!!!!! You do nothing but sit on Total Film.com and constantly refresh the page all day long hopping that someone has responded to one of the innumerable comments you post on every other article. And even if nobody does, you respond to your own F U C K I N G COMMENTS!!!! Jesus, go out and find someones c o c k to put up your a*s, at least that would get you out of the house!
Oct 5th 2011, 9:08
@dalidab1982 The Alien Breed games already worked well as movies - becasue they were loosly based on Aliens. Team 17 did a great job with the original Alien Breed and Alien Breed: Special Edition, and Alien Breed 2 was a good sequel. However, I don't think we need a film version of that with Aliens already made! Also, just because someone has gone and made an short film or online fan film of a game doesn't mean I don't want a blockbuster cinema version... Assassin's Creed would be f*****g awesome on screen!!!
Oct 5th 2011, 10:50
How has the Legend of Zelda completely been forgotten in this article? I know there are some fan films out there but surely there would be a lot of interest in a live action film?
Oct 5th 2011, 16:40
Metal Gear Solid. Devil May Cry. Second Sight.
Oct 5th 2011, 23:46
To me, Micheal Ironside will always be Sam Fisher in any film he's in.
Oct 6th 2011, 2:00
Dalidab shut the f**k up, you take every opportunity to tell us your business even when no-one wants you to. Someone could mention the weather and you'd use it as an excuse to go into excruciating detail about your (probably fictional) sexual exploits.
Oct 6th 2011, 2:02
That said, your cast list for metal gear solid characters was actually surprisingly good. Although Ving Rhames as Raven? Really? Raven's a giant Inuit, not a black guy. At the very least have the Rock or another pacific islander/ Canadian east coast actor do it.
Oct 6th 2011, 8:17
If you find an actor like that to play Raven, perhaps he could play Marcus Fenix too. I am seriously coming up short when trying to cast that part in my head. For some reason, I keep defaulting on Brock Lasnar and Randy Orton (shudder). If you have to delve into the WWE to find an actor for a movie - just can the bloody movie... (Dwayne Johnson was an exception...)
Oct 6th 2011, 10:46
i think the should film the game in my head, we will live in and watch it there together. Me as star, and people.
Oct 7th 2011, 23:09
Fallout 3 is very similar to a movie from the seventies called A Boy & His Dog.
Oct 12th 2011, 15:56
The Legacy of Kain series should have been included in this!
Oct 17th 2011, 17:24
Is that the Reaver series?
Oct 25th 2011, 20:00
Where can I get hold of 'Killchain'! I've never heard of it but Now I'm deperate for a copy!
