What about Steve McQueen's new film, Twelve Years A Slave? It must be the one to look out for!
Jan 2nd 2013, 17:17
Hifii - what's it about ? Hunger and Shame were incredible pieces of work that stayed with me long after I finished watching them.
Jan 2nd 2013, 17:45
A few things... Its sad there are no more Tony Scott films to look forward to :( . Doesn't Danny Boyle have a film out this year? Most of these 'defining movies' will be 3 stars at best.. *cough* Die Hard 5 *cough*. Who will get the Prometheus award for over-hyped letdown? Time will tell. Happy 2013 to you all :D

Jan 2nd 2013, 20:22

Jan 2nd 2013, 23:17
I withdrawl my previous statement, it seems I am mistaken...
Jan 2nd 2013, 23:28
With Maniac, if "the entire film" is shot from Frank's POV, why is the still a picture of us looking at Frank?
Jan 3rd 2013, 8:56
Ali1748 - Twelve Years a Slave is the true story of a NY citizen, Solomon Northup, (played by Chiwetel Ejiofor) who is captured and forced into slavery in 1800s. The film stars Michael Fassbender (of course), Brad Pitt and Benedict Cumberbatch, amongst others. Knowing Steve McQueen's work, it will pull no punches. The cinematographer and editor are the same as in Hunger and Shame. I can't wait for its release.

Hifii - wow that's an incredible line up, now I am very excited. Thanks.
Jan 3rd 2013, 19:58
The Gosling has been busy hasn't he. Has he borrowed that time thingy from Hermonie?
But I still believe that Superman will be the most EPIC film of the year, outdoing both the chronicles of Asgard AND The Stark.
Jan 3rd 2013, 23:05
No After Earth??? Guess Total Film has decided to slate it already.......
Jan 4th 2013, 6:49
The Double, Movie 43, Lowlife, Malavita, The Disappearance Of Eleanor Rigby His/Hers, Serena, Riddick, Terrence Malick's untitled new film, Woody Allen's Untitled new film, Nymphomaniac, Diana, Planes, The Look Of Love (Phil Redmond bipoic w/ Steve Coogan) just to name a few missed....
But hey - as an extremely mainstream list - you didn't fare badly.
Jan 4th 2013, 9:15
Gangster Squad looks amazing and by the trailer, Sean Penn seems to nail the bad guy. Cant wait to see it!
Jan 4th 2013, 12:04
I went to the screening of Gangster Squad yesterday. The year has officially started good!
Jan 4th 2013, 12:53
Oldboy with Will Smith, directed by Spielberg was to be an adaptation of the many a and NOT a remake of the film; so it wasn't hard to imagine at all really.
Jan 4th 2013, 12:55
Agree with Ender's Game being number 50.
Jan 4th 2013, 13:12
"Oh my god, where is X! Worst list ever!" lol
Jan 4th 2013, 13:47
@DravenCage - maybe he's looking in a mirror (or there's an evil twin and it's just spoiled the twist!)
Jan 4th 2013, 14:04
Good list -- a few questionable choices though. Check out the selection on Unsung Films for a more alternative 2013... quite a few gems that have been missed out (Jim Jarmusch's Only Lovers Left Alive and James Franco's Child of God to name a few).
Jan 4th 2013, 20:08
Why on earth is the Lone Ranger on this list??? It got slated at comic-con, has an awful cast and looks dreadful!!!
Jan 5th 2013, 17:36
JDogg because awful Depp movies generate alot of money.
Jan 8th 2013, 14:49
No The Canyons eh? You guys lost your edge a while ago.

Looking forward to Thor, Ironmam and Man of Steel but I look at lone Ranger and Jonny Depp and I just think he will be Jack Sparrow all over again. Maybe ill be proven wrong. Some really good films to look forward to tho.
Jan 16th 2013, 11:15
Cloud Atlas, a film which came and went in two weeks in November to mixed reviews here in the States, is going to define 2013? I wouldn't bet money on that, unless you mean "define" in a negative way.

Django was Inglorious b*****ds for the black slave trade. It was phenomenal, got you guessing, got you moved. I personally say, screw Pulp Fiction....Django is Tarantino's best work so far. Bar-none!
