Hmm, i usually like these 50....things and some of these are interesting, but some have "The Truth" part of it simply of people who didn't like it or didn't agree with the depiction of someone, that's not factual as such. The Nixon part, just because his official biographer(who obviously would never want Nixon to look bad) denied the call doesn't mean it didn't happen. And the Jim Morrison "truth" was simply someone complaining they didn't like what what shown. Pretty poor effort in places. These lists are clearly filled out to make 50, when in reality they need to be shortened to 20/25 to make them worth doing properly.

i agree this has a lot of poor effort, Erin Brockovich has a very interesting truth to the story about where most of the money really went etc & all you mention is about her boobs.. was actually hoping to find out some interesting history facts with this top 50

In relation to The Untouchables, Ness never through Nitti from the courthouse roof. He actually shot himself in the head at a railroad. Saying that it is a brilliant scene in The Untouchables. However, it is a fantastic scene.

In "A Beautiful Mind", the film leaves out that Nash illegitimately fathered a son with nurse who he abandoned after finding out she was pregnant. It also leaves out his arrest for indecent exposure and his alleged homosexuality. Also, the acceptance speech Nash gives at the end of the film when he receives his Nobel Prize: it never happened!

I know you alreayd did Mel Gibson, but surely the Patriot ranks far higher in terms of the british burning people in churches, oh and mel gibsons character was a slave owner and slave rapist if actual tales can be believed.

Good call, mentioning Cracked.com Hadouken76. I agree that this should have been slimmed down a little, I mean of all the 'historical inaccuracies' that could be leveled at 'The Conqueror' you give, essentially, 'Not played my Genghis Khan' as the example.

What about U-571 !!! This film re-wrote history so that the German Enigma code machine was capturd y an American submarine in 1941. In fact the first machines were captured by a British warship a year earlier. This was so inaccurate the the writer aologised for changing history and the filom raised questions in the Houses of Parliament due to it's inaccuracy.

The Iron Lady glossed over the fact that Mrs Thatcher actually had a p***s. Albiet a rather small and knarly one. Otherwise a very good article.

What a poor feature! Maggie Thatcher is hated in the UK???? really?, yes there is a large number of people who do not like her, she is also very popular. The fact its already been hinted that she will get a state funeral kind of shows her general popularity. In future do some proper f*****g research instead of using a film website to air your own political views. Knob

FBJBrown22 stop using a comments page on a film website to air your own (and nobody else's) political views. Did I mention you were a bell end?

Franz Liszt was Austrian, not German. Born in what back then used to be the Hungarian part of the Austrian-Hungarian Empire, now the Austrian province of Burgenland. Not even close to Germany. Mozart and Salieri actually did have a falling out over 'Cosi fan tutte' and Mozart suspected Salieri to have tried and poison him (the entire Mozart familiy wrote tons of leters that still exist, it's in one he wrote to his wife). They seem to have had an on and off kind of friendship/professional rivalry. Salieri did vote for a Mozart monument to be installed in Vienna's Charles church after Mozart's death.

Apparently Gandhi's real life was a tad bit more unorthodox than Attenborough had us believe, to say the least.

Cinderella Man and Titanic should be on the list. Also of all the lies in Ed Wood you focused on the wrong one. I love the movie but it dragged Bela and Wood's first girl through the mud. Many people believe what is said about them in the movie and it's wrong. Bela has some problems but was not that bad and the Karloff thing was b******t. W ood's first girl was VERY supportive of his struggle. Also Hoover did cross dress according to non homophobic witnesses. That being a massive historical inaccuracy is unknown. It may be it may not be

I would say that a lot of British people still like and admire Thatcher. She was voted 2nd most popular PM of 20th Century and that was on the left-wing BBC site, so she can't be all bad. (She is also hated by strikers and lazy people, but you can't please everyone :-) Your own opinion does not make someone popular or unpopular I'm afraid!
