The Dark Moment: Christmas-hating Will Freeman (Hugh Grant) demonstrates his contempt by giving 12-year-old Marcus (Nicholas Hoult) an inappropriate hip-hop album with titles like 'Shake Your Ass'.
Bleak Implications: An awkward moment as Will's ex Suzie (Victoria Smurfit) shows up, angry at Will's prior duplicity and suggesting, "You could pose as Santa and try and shag some carol singers!"

I love Total Film's lists. I do. But when ever you make then you throw in some wiiiiild, ridiculous accusation ie; is Sunshine the greatest Sci-Fi movie of all time, or is Alien 3 actually the best one out of the lot. NO TO BOTH!!
Gremlins as the darkest Christmas movie and It's A Wonderful Life second... you've gotta be kidding me. IAWL is the epitome of dark Christmas movies; its the reason that its famous, its the reason that it was lovingly restored into colour, and it does not deserve to be surpassed by some rubbish movie that has nothing to do with Christmas.
SORT IT OUT TOTAL FILM

The Ref should have been higher on the list. One of the best Dark/Fun Christmas movies ever!
