The Movie: Kevin Costner directs and stars as a nameless drifter known only as 'The Postman' in this adaptation of David Brin's novel. He wanders a post-apocalyptic America in search of peace. The Flop: Costner's film opened on Christmas day back in '97, which was a massive misstep.
Though it's a story about hope, who wants to go and watch a miserable guy trudging around a barren Earth for 177 minutes when they could be tucking into the turkey? Apparently nobody: it made just $18m at the US box office.
Why It Deserved Better: It has its flaws, but Costner's film is a likeable parable that gets points in the 'so bad it's good' department.
