Also...Ted Moore, for his work on the Bond movies and an Oscar a Man for all seasons. Adrian Biddle for his brilliance on Aliens, which gave the movie its eerie sense of dread.

No David Lynch collaborators??? No Frederick Elmes for Eraserhead, Blue Velvet and Wild At Heart??? No Freddie Francis for The Elephant Man and The Straight Story??? No Peter Deming for MULHOLLAND DRIVE, Lost Highway (not to mention Evil Dead 2!!!) For shaaaaame! Still, amazing list!

Total Film Incompetence should be the name of that magazine: where's Vadim Yusov for Ivan's Childhood, Andrei Rublev, Solaris etc? Where's Georgi Rerberg for The Mirror and Stalker? You got 3 different Terrence Malick cinematographers all of them copied the work of Yusov and Rerberg frame by frame

The list could be a lot worse. I was half expecting it to be entirely focused on Hollywood films of the last 20 years. On the contrary I found myself wondering about the omissions of a few modern masters: Robert Elswith, Andrew Lesnie, Cesar Charlone, Matthew Libatique and, son of Jordan, Jeff Cronenweth . . . Also think Deakins should be much further up the list and Nykvist has to be at least top 10.
