I would have enjoyed this list so much more without the "If They Were Mother and Daughter" section, which was filled with jokes that were either really lame or pretty grossly sexist. In this century those jokes about women cooking and wearing makeup and crying hysterically all the time have grown extremely stale. In the 80s we had Sarah Connor and Ellen Ripley, for God's sake. I hope the intent was just to be ironic/sarcastic but even so I think it's helping to perpetuate dated gender-stereotypes. Having to constantly think "Ugh, that's not what women are!" distracted me from enjoying this list of otherwise wonderful movie moments.

I just found the mother daughter section really rubbish - what was the point in it being there?

So you include The Road, but leave off The Mist. Doesn't make sense.

The horrendous Life is beaufiful above Godfather AND Field of dreams? Oh and no Robocop? A brief but touching glimpse of what he lost.

Was worried you'd forgotten about Zurg and Buzz for a minute there.. good save, though. And life is beautiful is really not horrendous...

Glad to see other people commenting on how lame the mother/daughter section was. Come on TF - you've got better at making the "sexy" articles less creepy and more inclusive and then you go all Nuts magazine again.

[I'm commenting as I go] Re BTTFII: "Wonder if she's heard of Oedipus." I think you're actually looking for "Electra" (not the Jennifer Garner "Daredevil" spin-off) - the Oedipus thing (or complex) relates to the mother-son relationship whilst the Electra complex relates to the father-daughter relationship. I'm saying this very loosely of course. :) Also re #16: was it necessary to repeat "proud", just as an adverb? Very glad to see that "Life is Beautiful" was in there too. Saw it recently - excellent film, funny and lump-in-throat inducing in turns. Even though the "mother-daughter" section was kinda unnecessary, with regards to #1 it WOULD have the same impact if it were the reverse, because it would have been said in that film first - 20yrs before 'EastEnders', if that makes sense?

Can't believed TF missed the Mist off this list. Dropped the ball, dropped the ball.
