Stakeland should be on this list. You've failed by omitting it.

Great to see Ravenous in there! Hugely underrated film. The end trails off a bit but the first half is classic stuff with a great soundtrack.

Good list of films. I do like trashy horrors. Wish you'd have gone into a bit more detail about the films though, What's good, what's not so good. Makes me think not all of them have been watched. Chances are with a list of indie films like this, a lot of your readers will have seen very few of them. Giving us one or two lines which could have been copied and pasted from IMDB seems a little lazy to me. You're meant to give us your opinion on films not just tell us the plot. For instance, I Come With The Rain. Why should I bother watching it? There are 46 films higher on the list and you given me nothing to go on. 'Neo-noir chiller starring Josh Hartnett as an ex-cop who journeys to Hong Kong in order to track down a billionaire’s missing son'. That's it? You actually made me look at other film websites to find out if it was any good. Nice job.

Black Sheep made me laugh.. not sure on the budget of that one though.. good call on Stakeland, not a bad film that one.

Easily one of your best lists but it suffers from missing titles. To include Poultrygeist at the expense of Father's Day or Chop is criminal. Your description of the motivation of Marc Senter's character in Red White & Blue is completely inaccurate, he is not jealous he is seeking revenge for being deliberately exposed to H.I.V. While I applaud your inclusion of Lucio Fulci surely his masterpiece The Beyond is a far better representation of indie horror. Anyway I'd like to thank you for providing an article that will allow for a discussion of such an entertaining subject.

No.29. The Girl Next Door. What's frightening about that is that it is based on a true story...

No Hellraiser or Re-Animator make me sad. I'd also have included Saw (I enjoyed the sequels, but the original is a fantastic horror film only diluted by the increasingly complex follow-ups) and Botched with Stephen Dorff.

Excellent. Haven't seen TONS of these, so will check them out. I myself would say that Stakeland isn't reeaallyy a horror... More of a thriller, drama type thing. Post-apocolyptic political... I dunno. But not a horror. The only real omission - which I only watched BECAUSE of an excellent review by Total Film, and I still think now is one of the scariest films I've seen - is Lake Mungo. An excellent, moving, but also terrifying Australian horror.

I would've included "I, Zombie". It's kinda like "Harold's Going Stiff" meets "Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer" and "The Fly" pretty entertaining microbudget indie movie.

I thought this was a great list, a lot of films i am looking forward to watch, until i realised Saw was not in this list. Not sure why it isnt, must be a good reason because it is way above the massively overrated Paranormal Activity.

Kristin Hansen did get her uncle Gunnar to star in Scott Phillips' awesome follow-up to STINK OF FLESH, the Mansonites-On-The-Rampage unsung classic GIMME SKELTER. Gunnar has a scene where her relays a story about a cat as killers are slowly creeping through his house. It is one of the finest pieces of indie horror-comedy ever put to film.
