number 47.... Steven Spielberg directed Harrison Ford more than three times, Raiders Of The Lost Ark, Temple Of Doom, Last Crusade, Kingdom and the cameo in E.T. Oh and witch 3 Tom Cruise movies did he directed, I can only name Minority Report and War of The Worlds, as with Tom Hanks I can only think of Saving Private Ryan and The Terminal....what am I missing?

#35 The Bridge Over The River Kwai? Am I to assume that's the Asylum remake of The Bridge On The River Kwai? This is a film magazine's website right?

Elia Kazan didn't die in the seventies... He died in 2003, a year before Brando.

I'm just bored to tears of the Burton / Depp / Carter love-ins. "Oh you hired your best friend and your missus AGAIN? You really are spoiling us."

Steven Spielberg directed Tom Hanks in Catch Me if you Can, as well as The Terminal and Saving Private Ryan. Can't think of the other Tom Cruise movie though.

Whilst Kurosawa & Mifune is certainly one of my favourite director/actor combos, i think Kurosawa & Takashi Shimura is equally important. Perhaps more so as he did more films with Shimura and with Mifune (although probably half of them had both in).

I can't believe in 50 choices there was no room for Stephen Rea and Neil Jordan. They have made nine films together, one that resulted in an Oscar win for Jordan and a nom for Rea. It also kicked off the MIRAMAX revolution of the 1990s....wth?

Second about Leo and Scorsese. Clearly a match made in cinematic heaven. Gangs of New York, The Departed, Shutter Island, Aviator? All epic movies. What about Clint Eastwood and Clint Eastwood? Unforgiven, Grand Tarino, come on now.

@CSB and GregBreen1. Jordan and Rea is an excellent shout. I don't think Scorsese and DiCaprio should be in. Out of the 5 movies they have done together there is not one the stands out as a classic. Shutter Island is a vary weak adaptation of a far superior book, The Departed is an inferior remake of the original, Gangs Of New York features an awful Di Caprio performance and The Aviator was only ok. As to Spielberg and Cruise, could the other film be Austin Powers Goldmember?

What about Stanley Kubrick and Peter Sellers? They may only have made two films together, but they were both masterpeices and Sellers played at least 4 unforgettable characters in them (I'd say his Quilty in Lolita is verging on his playing multiple roles, too). Terrence Fisher and Peter Cushing or Christopher Lee? Utterly bored with "acclaimed" Burton-Depp partnership: "Edward Scissorhands" and "Ed Wood" were great, everything else they've done has been mediocre to dreadful. This is the height of unfashionability, but Jean Jacques Annaud and Ron Perlman have done some good work together.
