    Great list. Even though Scorsese got his for the wrong movie, its still nice to see him finally reconised. Maybe Lucas should CGI is own best directors gong, its only way he'll get one. LOL

    Another hilarious moment was when Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson came to present the Best short films awards. They were promoting Starsky & Hutch at the time. Cue the Starsky & Hutch theme. Stiller arrived dressed as Starsky and Wilson arrived with his tuxedo. -Stiller : (feeling ridiculous all of a sudden) :Why aren't you wearing your Hutch clothes? -Wilson : I don't know. I guess I found it a little bit shameful to come up here and plug your movie... -Stiller : But it was YOUR IDEA!!!!

    I oved the Vanessa Redgrave speech it was truthful and the "Zionist Hoodlums" gave her a very hard time prior to the awards. There is something called "Free Speech" in this world I think!!! A lady could stand for her opinion and many others did the same and worse before and after her

    Nice list. But Michael Moore I just can't take him serious. He's more a poser than actually a guy that DOES something. His "everybody hold hands and then there'll be worldpeace"-attitude is getting annoying. He's a one-trick pony. And I can't stop thinking of Peter Griffin everytime I see him...

    Heath Ledger: A fitting send-off for a talent who died too soon, all the more so because this wasn't a sentimental award - he would have won, anyway. I disagree. While he did a good job, I think Robert Downey Jr. in Tropic Thunder would have won. I still watch him in that role and can't believe it's him.

    Speaking of Dustin Hoffman for Kramer vs. Kramer is far more memorable than the novelistic tribute to Heath Ledger. Dont get me wrong:Ledger deserved the award, but the presence of his family was completely bore.

    I need to add one other event. It was the appearance and speech by Sidney Poitier a few years back (2002?). He had been the first black male to win an Oscar back in 1963, and his comments this particular evening elevated him far above the typical Academy crowd. He was a pioneer who took the slings and arrows, and survived.

    Something always gets left off these lists, but sometimes it inexcusable. Peter O'Toole, he who has been nominated in the LEAD ACTOR category 8 times...he who gave what was voted the finest film performance of the CENTURY in Lawrence of Arabia...finally gets an Oscar, but it's for lifetime achievement. Never has an actor MORE deserved an actual Oscar and not gotten one....most everyone agrees, Peter deserves an Oscar. And when they announced he'd get the "honorary," he was mortified because he thought they were saying "it's over, too late, you'll never win." And he was NOT done trying. At first, he said he would simply turn it down. He was still active, they needed to wait for him to retire. But later, he relented, and did the gentlemanly thing, and performed one of the truly great, eloquent speeches in Oscar history. And you leave THAT off the list? Oops.

    I've always loved Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova's Oscar for "Falling Slowly." They're both so sweet and humble about it that Jon Stewart joking calls Hansard arrogant. Also, when Irglova was cut off by the music, she was brought back on later to finish her acceptance speech. Leaves me with a warm glow, it does. Great song, too.
