Good catch! Though to be fair, Dolph's accent could be from anywhere...

I don't think Renee Zellwegger ever thought she would feature in a list of the most Extreme Performances EVER.. just by eating a few extra snickers bars and then p**sing about with the worlds plummiest english accent. I'm pretty sure that there are slightly more extreme roles out there than that. Is Daniel Day Lewis really anti-method? He basically becomes the person he's playing and stays as them all the time.. sounds pretty method to me, or have I completely misunderstood what method acting is?

How about Kristen Stewart (and maybe Lautner, it's hard for a Lama to act as a Werewolf)? I think it's a really hard thing to do and act in all these Twilight Movies without moving any of your facial muscles. Those dead, soulless eyes, no blink, no twitch...it's a real achievement!

What about Michael Fassbender in Hunger? He lost 40 pounds for his role! He just did so a little bit less dangerously than Christian Bale, for example.

Vincent d'onofrio still holds the record for weight gain for a role right? surely that and the content of the film means he deserves a place? drop one of the daniel day lewis ones-we know he's dedicated to the point of lunacy!

If Min-sik Choi is on here for eating an octopus and Nic Cage for a cockroach, then Divine should be on here for eating dog shiite. Doesn't get anymore exteme then that. Well, unless you're talking about any porn star today. They've been known to swallow all kinds of stuff. ;)

What about the never released Glitterati from Wikipedia: The film was shot non-stop over a fifteen day period throughout Europe, with Pardue remaining in the character of Victor Ward the entire time. The characters in the film, with the exception of Kip Pardue, are all non-actors. Apparently, the entire film was improvised, with Pardue remaining in character as Victor Ward 24 hours a day. The people he met during his travels (mostly models) through over 15 cities "fell into the movie" and became part of it without knowing that it was a movie.

Matthias Schoenaerts gained almost 60lbs of mostly muscles for Bullhead plus he had to learn to speak an accent he wasn't used to. Terrific acting from the man, he should be in there somewhere.

Thought Donnie Wahlbergs performance in the sixth sense deserved a shout. The guy only had around 5 minutes of screen time, but boy did he make an impact and the weight loss made him unrecognisable.

Why don't we just call this the Daniel Day-Lewis/Christian Bale memorial list? Notable omissions: Rooney Mara in The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, Michael Fassbender in Hunger, Daniel Day-Lewis in There Will Be Blood, Ben Kingsley in Sexy Beast.
