When I watched it first, I expected the unborn (and now cut-out) baby in the box of "Se7en". Also unexpected was the death scene at the dinner table in "I Love Paris". Travolta head-shoots the woman! Was quite a surprise...

good list, although is it wrong that i was wanting some clips to go with some of these? (cant beat a bit of gore)..... but wheres wash's death from serenity? that has to be high on the list of shocking deaths, also thought mark ruffallos death in Collateral was quite surprising

Not a bad list. Snowtown has to be number 1.. has to be.. the scene in the bathroom is easily the most disturbing and realistic scene I have ever seen. Bit lazy to go down the Final Destination/Saw route as that is basically the only thing the films have, and you've already done a 50 list which was all about them.. Pulp Fiction deserves a nod for Marvin.

No Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry on the list? ...and I agree wth ChrisWootton....Pulp Fiction/Marvin should have been there...

I wasn't especially shocked by Costigan dying in The Departed. Yan taking a bullet in Infernal Affairs really did come as a surprise though.

I agree with A7sox, I was waiting for wash's death in Serenity to show up on the list...tore me up in its abruptness :( The scars still linger:(

Some of the earlier choices are not surprises... something keeps saying they're about to die. But I kept waiting for Marvin's death from Pulp Fiction, figured it had to be high on the list. For shame.

What about Jack Vincennes in LA Confidential? Although, I do totally agree with the rest of the comments regarding Wash in Serenity.

Totally agree on Marvin in Pulp Fiction, but what about Vincent Vega? Also, Marley (the dog) in Marley and Me. That movie was billed as a kiddy flick, and I can tell you that me, my five year old daughter, and the other 500 toddlers and their parents in the theatre thought it was pretty effing shocking.

RE "Teeth": the picture you used is from a later scene with her step-brother and not the, er, incident you proceeded to describe. Just thought I'd point that out there ^^

No mention of Dancer in the Dark then? Of all the shocking death scenes I have EVER scene that one was the most shocking, disturbing and horrible.

Irreversible. The fire extinguisher. I can't watch it anymore. The effects and sound are too effective for me.

I love number 17. I think it should have been higher on the list but thats just a personal preference.
