    Salt doesn't deserve to be anywhere near this list. Its about as tense as going to the toilet at night.

    Technically Hadouken, the monster is undercover. Glad to see that scene from Inglorious b*****ds here.

    It's not a very well known film but pretty much any scene in Agnieszka Holland's Nazi-era suspense drama Europa Europa (1990) would have fit the bill in terms of nail bitingly tense undercover scenes. Just the plot alone - a Jewish boy disguises himself as a German and joins the Hitler Youth to avoid persecution from the Nazis - would give you an idea of how tense the film gets. One scene that comes to mind particularly involves the now-undercover protagonist being called out to stand in front of a Nazi class learning about how to identify a Jew.

    The apple/vomit scene from "Sound of my voice" would have been on my list.
