The Film: Drive was our favourite film of 2011, and that was mostly thanks to two very important people – the film’s director Nicolas Winding Refn, and its star Ryan Gosling. Which means we’re positively chewing our first in anticipation of the pair’s next offering, Only God Forgives.
Sticking with the gritty action theme, Gosling plays a gangster who settles his differences with a Bangkok police officer (Yayaying) by getting in the ring and unleashing some furious fists. Meanwhile, Kristin Scott Thomas is apparently terrifying as a “merciless mafia godmother”. Has epic written all over it.
If It Was Based On Something: It’d be a remake of a cool Japanese flick.

total film epic fail, LOFT definitely a remake from 2008 & 2010 dutch movie (even two times remake), so what happen with "This year's not all about sequels, prequels and remakes, you know…" :))

I'm pretty sure It's Hunger Games that Jennifer Lawrence is going to be in, not the Hunter Games.

Am I the only one who wishes it was Kurt Russell in MS One: Maximum Security? It sounds like it should be a Snake Plissken film. Don't get me wrong, it sounds like the kind of trash I'll love, but a big part of me still wants to see a decent sequel to Escape from New York.

Saw a trailer for MS One the other week.. looks... sort of good.. Guy Pearce looks like he's having a ball as the action hero.. might go and see it for that reason alone.

Tssk tssk TF. You list off three good reasons for me to skip Neighbourhood Watch: Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn and Jonah Hill, but you totally failed to mention the totally excellent (and appears in your mag every month) Richard Ayoade, who's clearly in that picture.

I genuinely don't like criticising, and I was thrilled to see this list... But then I read it. And how depressing it is... A few of these films look pretty good... Some might be very good. Infact after the brilliance that was In Bruges, Seven Psychopaths has me genuinely excited. The rest... Well I hope I'm wrong but I'm struggling to be optimistic.

Passion is based on the French movie Crime d'amour with Ludivine Sagnier and Kristin Scott-Thomas. Hardly an original property...

Imposter was a featured story in the book The Devil And Sherlock Holmes. Amazing story that will adapt to screen very well! Although I'm not sure how they're calling it a documentary, unless it's an acted out doc a la Unsolved Mysteries/ America's Most Wanted, in which case I'll be glad to avoid it.

Really good list TF. That's more like it. Would have been nice to have a trailer for those that had one. I checked youtube for a few....It looks like there are a few decent films amongst them.
